I am officially disappointed in Greg Byrne

Firing a head football coach isn't a snap decision. It doesn't hinge on the output of any one game, including the Egg Bowl.

If Greg had already made up his mind about the firing, it should have been announced this morning. Since that didn't happen, I assume that Greg hadn't made up his mind and greased all the skids as of yesterday.

Again, look at Tennessee as an example of how this should be handled. They fired their coach as soon as it was clear to them that Fulmer shouldn't coach next year. And at season's end, they named their next head coach.

Meanwhile, we've yet to fire our's.

Apparently they have a meeting scheduled for sunday. I doubt Byrne would announce a firing prior to actually meeting with the coach he's firing.

apparently that is not going occur, that leads me to believe it won't be happening at all, at least not this year. Why would you wait? You wouldn't unless it doesn't happen............

If there is no announcement before Monday, Croom will return, if there is one today or tomorrow then he will be fired. Some said this earlier, but the silence is deafning, Croom and co return next year.

If he were gone, or Byrne had telegraphed the punch, I doubt they set up the klieg lights for that one.

I am sure Byrne does not want his decision to look like a knee jerk reaction to having been skulldrug in the Egg Bowl. I know we are not accustomed to having a smart AD but let's give Byrne the benefit of a doubt.

he has to confer w/ an interim president, in Roy Ruby, & the incoming president, in Mark Keenum.

I do think, & have thought, that Byrne would allow due diligence to takes it course in this situation. Such as the meeting w/ Croom, talking to other agents to gauge interest now that the situation is here, & of course, making sure we don't come off as Boone & Khayat did w/ the Cutcliff firing / Orgeron hiring fiasco.

idea for a coach. I think GB will be a lot more willing to take on the political fallout if he knows he can a get a Cohen type as opposed to getting a middle-of-the-road coach just because he isn't Croom.

As bad as we want Croom gone we need to make sure we got our ducks in a row on this. Ole Miss didn't, and wound up with Special Ed.

I remember all of the talk in 2003 when everyone wanted Jackie gone (except for uber sheep). "Anybody but Jackie!" and "It can't get any worse than this!" was a lot of the consensus. And we see where that got us.

coaches. I don't he would talk to someone before their rivalry game about coming to MSU. At least wait till after the game. Like someone said, if nothing has happened by Monday get worried.

If Byrne got up there and fired Croom Donald Trump style after the Egg Bowl, people would probably think he's nuts. That would NOT be good for us because it would make news if we handled our perssonel like that.

Especially since, and I hate to play this, since Croom is black. If that happened the BCA, Jesse, Al, and Oprah would all rake MSU through the coals.

We do owe it to Croom to fire him in a respectful way, whether we feel like Croom deserves it or not.
