I am stunned.

Totally agreed. I get people on the surface want to say that stuff, but if you actually look you see. Like you said, nattys as an OC. Sark pooped away a gift when he took over for him (Sark sucks, in comparison, btw) in the natty game. His time as HC at USC was in the midst of all the scholly/recruiting sanctions due to Carroll. Fwiw, USC lied to him about those prior to him taking the job. He was very competitive in his one year at UT without an actual QB. I mean, the Raiders thing, like that mess was his immaturity and Al Davis being batcrap crazy. First time he went places without people lying to him about sanctions (USC) or personnel (the Davis rift was over JaMarcus Russell...obviously Kiffin was right) he won big relative to where he was in both places. FAU was as good as they ever had been in their history and essentially the same with Ole Miss. LSU is going to be a beast next year, and I honestly think they'll be in the thick of it this year too. You give him one complete cycle and he will have that roster unreal good. He would've this year had Ole Miss not acted so quickly. They were scared to death he was going to empty the cupboard there. And he damned near did.

I've said it a bunch on here, give me the guys with personality. It's why I like Stein so much. Same with Swaggy Cal (not to be confused with Saggy Cal the last few years). I go all the way back to Bum Phillips. Mike Leach. I could think of a ton of them. I hate the PR machine robots that most are today. Those dudes didn't give an eff about giving a quote or saying something that came back on them later. Sports are entertainment for most of us. Those types of guys are entertaining.
Totally agree and LSU will just get better in the future with Kiffin at the helm. Love Stein because he has swag and he was working the officials too.

Man Glanville had some great one liners for the Falcons. Coaches like that make the game fun.

If you haven't watched the Saban doc on ESPN yet, my favorite part might have been the Glanville part. Saban's commentary on working for him was eye opening. The REALLY good coaches get it and understand there are all kinds of different styles and approaches to winning in sports.

In the context of that moment though, his defense had completely bottled us up in the second half and they were on their own 43. Considering how their defense was playing and how much our defense had been surprisingly stout against the run all night (LSU was only avg 2.6 ypc for the game and we had a good number of tackles for loss), it wasn't as obvious a decision at the time as it now seems in hindsight. It would have been completely justified as well, but it also would have been brought up afterwards as the "decision that cost him the game" if we hold them there and go on to score a TD in regulation with a short field (on their 43 yard line) and 1:30 left on the clock. Either choice would have been justified given the situation.
As said, his rationale was sound but he wins the game right there with his offense if he goes for it. It will eat him. Guaranteed.

I want Pope to be great. Sadly nothing he has shown or his history shows that it will be the case, but I will root for his team the same as I always do. I hope he proves me wrong.
Don’t you want to join all of those preseason Nancies who want to relitigate whether he should have been hired in the first place?

Football gives us an awesome first half of the season and yet some “fans” want to debate whether or not Pope should have been hired. It’s funny and pathetic at the same time.

Yeah USC and Alabama won rings with him as OC/QB coach. Plus Ole Miss was a doormat before he got there. He's a jack*ss but I love that he doesn't give a F about anything.

Stein out coached him Saturday. The chess match between both of them was fun to watch at least to me.
I enjoyed the match as well. Both calling TOs after one another to make adjustments, etc
