I think Thursday night games suck, and I would prefer to spend Thanksgiving with my family.

I don't want to have to choose between MSU football and my family.

Again, to Scott Stricklin's sixpack monitor- NO NO NO to any Thursday night games. NO to the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving.

We don't need Thursday night games. There is no reason for us to ***** ourselves out.

I guess it's good for exposure but its just a huge inconvenience. Call me a softy or not a real fan or whatever but I like family time during Thanksgiving. I'm about to be a dad too so maybe that's influencing me more now than in the past.

While I have only made one Thanksgiving Night game it was great to sit and watch it on TV with the family. The coverage we used to get was phenomenal.

1. God

2. FAMILY

3. Work

4. Women, baseball, football, etc. whatever else funny anyone else wants to add.

I feel like I give MSU what it deserves if not more in the form of attendance and money via the Bulldog Club and etc. All I'm asking is that I'm not forced to choose between number 4 and number 2. Because on Thanksgiving that's priority 2's time, and they deserve it from me.

They want me to support the team and do all of this stuff for them, and then instead of asking me to do it on a Saturday like EVERY other SEC team- they ask me to support them on workdays on Thursdays and then give up my family holiday.

I hated it in 1998-2003 and I hate it now.

And as far as Thursday games- our administration talks about "exposure" and how we play great on Thursdays. Well, it seems like more often than not, our Thursday opponent plays someone like Tennessee Tech the Sat. before while we play Auburn, South Carolina, or LSU and they score an easy victory. Stupid, stupid, stupid. And they should check our Thursday night record, it's abysmal. But hey! We beat Florida in 1992! We're awesome! We get exposed all right.

Scott might as well schedule Florida State while he's at it.

I think it's more beneficial to be AT the game.

It was just a year ago where Dan scolded our fans for not selling out Alcorn State. And now they want to make it even more inconvenient for the fans? For what? Some "coverage?"

I loved the Thanksgiving night game on ESPN. It was an opportunity for my whole family to watch my Bulldogs on a very special day. Before NFLNetwork started showing a game at night the Bulldogs were primetime National TV for all football fans in America to watch. Excellent exposure for the schools.

I know lots of people who loved planning their Thanksgiving around the game. Their whole family would go, things like that. And some hate it. I really won't be too up or down either way myself.

The Egg Bowl is a fun game to attend, and a lot of years it's the only game I make. Thanksgiving is an awesome holiday, and it sucks to have to chose between the two. I vote no.

but since I live a fair amount away I don't make many games. Therefore I like it when we're on tv, but I understand that being at the game is great and being there Thanksgiving night is rough.

Many of my family members are Ole Miss people

It was great when you could tailgate and spend Thanksgiving Day together either in Starkville or in Oxford

I would like to see us get that spot again, it is great exposure on a national level

My family did thanksgiving together in stark. Best of both worlds. Also, every other year when it is away you can watch on tv with the family. I love it.

I don't like e'm.
I have only missed two State/ Om games since 1971, and to have to have that game every Thanksgiving, is a bit much.

I think it makes sense to show the world what we're all about on Thanksgiving. As a Starkville native, it was never an inconvenience for our family, so I can't relate to most of y'all. I loved having the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving and fully support bringing it back.<div>

Either stay and celebrate with my family or ditch them early at the one time of the year that I'm supposed to spend time with them. In other words, choosing football over spending time with my family, or not going to a game I usually want to go to.

If I went up to my family and said "Hey let's tailgate in Starkville for Thanksgiving!" I would be the only one in my family that would "want"- I say "want" because I don't really want to spend Thanksgiving tailgating either- to do that. My near 90 year old grandmother wouldn't be able to have Thanksgiving with us. I would feel horrible even asking her to do that.

Oh yeah- and I don't have a tent in the Junction so we would be celebrating in some random parking lot in Starkville. Just like the Pilgrims.

If you have family in Starkville, a tent in the Junction, and etc. I could see where it would work out. But for the other 75% of us that don't have the stars aligned like that or think that tailgating is an awesome Thanksgiving idea, it's a royal pain in the ***. I have no family in Starkville.

And maybe I don't want to watch it on TV. That's why I buy season tickets and enjoy going to the games. Why not play on Saturday like the other teams in America not in C-USA?

And I don't get the exposure/coverage arguement. Are we not giving Ole Miss just as much coverage and exposure? What benefit does it have? A bunch of people in California are not going to decide that they're going to go to MSU or buy MSU stuff because we play a game on Thanksgiving. Hell, they'll probably pull against us since Ole Miss is the underdog. Plus, it's not like every game isn't on TV nowadays. We could play on Friday and get about as much exposure and incovenience people even less.

If this is so great, how come the Iron Bowl is never on Thanksgiving? Or the other myriad of rivalry games?

I would prefer that over any exposure that we get any and every day. Especially since we would share the exposure with Ole Miss.

...if aren't down with the Thanksgiving football game, you can always sneak away to your man cave (which I'm sure is decorated to look like the 3rd baseball dugout @ Wrigley Field) & write us a 10,000 word exposé on Luis Pollorena's two-seam fast ball.

on Thanksgiving for years. Some of my best MSU memories revolve around that Thanksgiving Egg Bowl. 98 and 99 were awesome experiences, and the all day Thanksgiving tailgates were a part of that.

In any situation, you can never please everybody, so you do what is best for the university as a whole. I promise, the game will be sold out regardless of your decision.

Back in the early '70's didn't we beat Archie on Thanksgiving? Then of course the '99 comeback game, and a few others during Jackie's era. Yeah, family comes first, but my family loves the Bulldogs and we'll be thru eating by gametime and either watch it on TV or go to the game.

Come on...it's a tradition that we kinda sorta started, butthen let it go. Let's start it up again (even tho theyaren't ourREAL rivals).

All of the above assumes it will be a national telecast on ESPN or2.

someone else will.

With your family, I bet if the USM-Tulsa showdown was Thanksgiving night, they'd go.

With me 11 hours away and my younger brother 6 hours away, thanksgiving day is literally one of the two days we are all in Vicksburg together.

My point was that not everyone's family is like Munson's and some people would have to choose. Like you said it is what is best for the university but dont fool yourself into believing many people don't have to choose.

most of the people who had tickets chose the game. Always a full house.

For the majority of the MSU/Ole Miss fanbase, it is definitely not a stretch to say if kickoff is 6 PM or later, you could eat before 2 PM and make it to Starkville/Oxford for the game. Sorry we can't appease our West Coast alumni.

It is the best side of you if there is one that is good. I never said the attendance wasn't strong and that the university should worry about far away alumni. Plus I agreed with you that the university should do what they believe is best. Keep acting an *** and maybe your boy C34 will weigh in against you and you will stop posting for a couple of years.

I would like to know one thing of the people who are raising a stink about this. Are you going to Oxford this year? Do you go to the games in Oxford regularly?
