They are so obsessed with beating their real rival that they don’t mind losing their best postintegration coach to their fake rival

they would rather have won the Egg Bowl and lost Kiffin or lost the Egg Bowl and kept Kiffin. The person emphatically said “win the Egg Bowl - no question.”

But LSU is their main rival, right??

Well, they may be for a year or two, till Kiffin starts beating the shite out of them.

I think reality hits hard during the playoffs. Maybe during the selection. They will start panicking the closer it gets to selection day and then playoffs if they are selected (I think they will but I think they’ll be dropped a few spots— depends on how many more of the offensive staff leave.)

They’re mad and doing the only thing they can think of to cope right now— blame Lane for everything and keep the faith that he meant little to nothing to their success this year.

The reality is— they took a major chance on him, and honestly, it paid off nicely. It was a transactional relationship both parties benefitted from. There’s no way those in charge believed he’d truly changed, but they probably felt it was manageable and would pay off. And if they’d be honest— just from Twitter, quite obviously the fans also knew he hadn’t changed, either, but thought they could just keep it quiet.

They’re most mad he is letting the world know he doesn’t think they’re as elite as they think they are— and that stings, because he would know.
