And plays for a team east of the Mississippi River. Yeah, I know. Alabama may win another title this year, and their QB will be considered great, but he hasn't been asked to carry that team. And if he had to, I'm not sure he could do it. Tyler was forced to carry us against KY and UT. Both teams set out to stop the run and said ok, Tyler beat us. He did just that. Mullen needs to go and find us a CP like ut has for Tyler's senior year. Can yo imagine what Tyler could do with a receiver like that?

McCarron benefits unbelievable from playing behind that Tide OL. Put him behind ours, OMs, Arkansas's, or others, and he'd backup Bo Wallace. McCarron is an above average QB who gets a lot more cred from the 1600 lbs. directly in front of him.

I'll be one of the first to admit i didn't think Tyler could be "the guy" especially after his terrible spring game he had a few yrs ago. I couldn't wait for Dak to start for us. But then came the SC game last yr and i saw how darned tough he was. Then in that same game he kept taking hit after hit after hit by Ingram and Clowney but kept making the right shows. I may not believe he is the best in the SEC but i do believe he is top 3 and I'll be honest.....I'm so glad i was wrong. Great Monday to sport my damed msu coffee cup like the last 5 before it.

Slow down there Sparky.....Tyler is really good. But the best in the SEC? He's the best to suit up at State for a very long time so you obviously haven't seen a real SEC quarterback for a while.

In reply RE Bama OL... it's really good, but to say "the Bama OL makes McCarron", is inaccurate if not completely wrong... they have actually struggled to protect him at times. and the run blocking is just now starting to gel, IMO...

I think Wilson, Bray, & Murray would all do as well or better than McCarron at UA... I'm still not certain Russell/Wallace are there, yet.

If I was given a choice right now as to who I would take between McCarron or Russell it wouldn't require any thought whatsoever, I'm taking Russell no doubt.

I think he's in the top 3 for sure, and maybe #1

If he had Bama's or LSU's offensive line he would be in the conversation for Heisman. He's gotten hit more in a half season then AJ McAaron will get hit in his career at Bama.

Sack numbers are BS

Tyler can stand in the pocket with pressure in his face without panicking or making a rash decision better than any QB I have seen in a while regardless of where they play. This was the only thing I noticed from him when he was at MHS. He rules.

If we had a WR on the level of Patterson/Cooper/Beckham to go with Bumphis/Green/Johnson, we'd have the best offense in the SEC. Hopefully Morrow will develop into that player by next year

McCarron made great throws in the championship game last year, but he has not looked good when I've seen him this year. I'm guessing Saban just doesn't want him to looking to throw down field, but from what I've seen, Russell can do everything McCarron can do and better.

Tyler vs. AJ is at worst a toss up.

It's not debatable that AJ is playing with more talent and benefits from a better defense to give him field position, confidence, freedom etc.

I would not trade Russell for any other QB in the league.

All year, I've had this sneaking suspicion that we might win in Tuscaloosa this year. It's growing stronger. We catch them between UT & LSU. If we were going to steal a victory there, that's a great spot to get one.

The biggest thing with Russell is that he has quit throwing it to the other team

on a regular basis. Now, he did throw it to UT once and they rejected it but hey, sometimes it is
better to be lucky than good. He is taking care of the football and making NFL throws at times with a
great deal of confidence. Some of those passes Saturday night were just laser beams between defenders, it
was impressive. If he continues to improve he will be among the top QB's in the country next year.

The thread the needle touchdown to Green in the 2nd Quarter and the roll out 23 yarder to Bumphis on the final drive were GROWN MAN throws. We've never had a QB that makes those kind of throws.

Saban keeps mccarron leashed... i believe hes better than most (that don't see him as much) believe... also, he doesn't have the OL protection or a stud WR (yet) others do...

If balls he "threw away" didn't count against his %, he prolly be clipping about 80%

He made some really nice tosses in the monsoon Saturday, but has yet to have the opportunity to face a big time defense this year...

If McCarron doesn't perform well vs MSU and Russell shines, I will reconsider.

you hit on a key point....

I don't think AJ takes nearly as many "chances" as he would like to... having that defense on the sidelines HAS to be of great comfort, though...

I thought one of his best throws of the game was the 3rd down touch pass that Green f'n dropped (DAMMIT!!!!!). That pass showed me as much as the f'n darts he was throwing.

Good point, that was a beautiful pass and is symbolic of his development. I am

really happy for Tyler and hope he continues to develop. If he does he is going to be
a very wealthy guy and one that will represent us well and give back in my opinion.
