I bet Snead withdraws from the draft

After reading some stories from the various papers, it sounds like Nut really wants him back. I think he will talk to some folks in the NFL and not like what he hears.

I also think a lot depends on how much Nutt REALLY wants him back. Any family problems he is having would be cured, I think.

Why should he stay(except for the obvious $$$$-just sayin). He 's been in college like 5-6 years now, has a degree. If he is ever going to make it in the pros, why waste a year in college with absolutely nothing to gain. Maybe he's just tired of it and wants to get on with his life.

Degree in hand + 2 Cotton Bowl seasons + enough physical tools that a team will take a flyer + no Dexter + a salary = no more college football for Snead.

Surely he won't be drafted high enough this year to make big money. If he comes back and has a great year, I would think he'd get tons more money in 2011 regardless of any salary cap.

A good showing in Feb and a good Wunderlic will do wonders for his draft status.

You're assuming he would be capable of having a great year. Snead is dependent on his supporting cast, and his supporting cast on offense next year will be a lot of young talent. Throw in the fact that Nutt has said that there would be healthy QB competition in the spring even if he returns, and you can see why he'd probably go. It's unlikely to get better for him next year in my opinion, or at least there are a lot of reasons why it wouldn't get better.

Sounds like you're saying the supporting cast would cause Snead to get worse because Snead is only as good as his supporting cast.

Actually I think you're being a homer who can't admit that Snead didn't get adequate QB coaching. You are a better team with Snead next year than without - even if Nutt is coaching. You're lying to yourself if you think otherwise. Period.

they will feel like they can fix his happy feet and rushing passes...

when he goes to the combine and has no rush, he will move up everyones' list...
I expect a lot of JR to go early

he may not go in top 3 rounds, but damn brady went in the 6th and i would like to have his problems...

We're going to be rebuilding next year, especially on offense. I feel like we have some talent on offense, but it's all young, and the OL will be young. On the OL, if Geralds doesn't get his medical, we won't have a single senior and maybe only two juniors. That'll bode well for our future when we get to return an entire unit, but it'll be tough for 2010. That's not the situation you want if you're a senior QB trying to improve your draft status. You don't want to be playing with a young group that's going through growing pains together. That's what I'm saying. We should take a step back in the win column next year yes. How many we win is dependent on how well the young guys come along, and that's anyone's guess.

I don't disagree that we'd be better with Snead next year, and I never said we wouldn't be, just that I can see why he'd consider going. That's different.

With Snead, we would've at least had an experienced QB to lead a group that's trying to grow as a unit. Without him, we'll have a QB that's trying to learn along with the rest of the offense. As far as 2011 and 2012 are concerned, it's better for those teams that Snead goes, because it'll mean 12 more games of experience for whatever QB we play, but 2010 will be tougher without him for sure.

We do get our 2 year run of UK and Vandy on the schedule at the same time starting next year, but Fresno State is going to be tough. They return a lot, and our road schedule is awful next year (Tuscaloosa, Fayetteville, Knoxville, Baton Rouge). We do have 3 OOC freebies though, as we should.

Of course, the good news is, that's exactly what you want if you're in a rebuilding year, the tough games on the road and the more winnable ones at home, because it at least gives you a better chance at the games you have a chance to win.

And the biggest plus about our schedule is that we open with Jacksonville State, @Tulane, Vanderbilt, Fresno State, Kentucky. That's a dream opening schedule for breaking in a new QB and a lot of young players. The first three should be wins, and 4 of the first 5 are at home, with the biggest challenges coming from Fresno State and Kentucky in games 4 and 5. The back half of the schedule obviously sucks, but it'll at least give us a chance to gain some experience and confidence before the meat of the schedule.
