(not about hot dogs or cups), to ask if they sold videos of past MSU football games. I am wanting to get some of the best games on video for my Dad as part of his Christmas gift this year, because he's always talking about wishing he could go back and watch some of them. They told me that they could get me any game from 1980 to present, but it would likely cost about $35 per game to be shipped in Mississippi. I may sound like a cheapskate, but I can't spend $200 to get 5 or 6 games on video right now. I figure it would be very profitable for the Athletic Department to sell videos of old games at a $10-$15 price, because I figure many of our fans would be interested in buying several of them.

Does anyone know of a better way to get some old classic games? I don't even care if they are VHS and used. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case others were interested or had old games on video that they would make copies of for a fee.

I would love to have a copy of the Gator Bowl ... just not @ $ 35 -$40 (shipped to Ga. ) .... $20 to $ 25 and it's a buy

Yea, that was kinda my thoughts too. I would be glad to pay $100 for 5 games, but not $35 per game. Think about how many of our fans would buy multiple games if they were priced around $15 per game. I really think the Athletic Department could make some good money off of that. Even if half of the stadium bought one video it would bring in $375,000. And I couldn't imagine it costing more than the price of a DVD to make one if they already have the video in house. Of course, they may have to pay some kind of royalty to the network that the game was shown on...I don't know about all that.

Or you can download them for free and burn them to your own DVD for about $1.00

I did a quick torrent search and found 20 plus MSU games available for download.

Seriously? Where at Andy?

I would gladly do that, but I didn't know where to find them. Are they full games or just highlights?

Yea I agree on those. I'd love to have that Auburn game we came back to win with Wyatt at the helm, along with just about every other game during that comeback season. I would also like to have the Gator Bowl, Peach Bowl vs Clemson, and Snow Bowl for the collection. The Final Four team's NCAA tourney games would be great to have as well.

Cadaver, check your PM. I might be able to help out with the Gator Bowl.

I had written a more detailed response to this but my compute crashed so here is the nickle version....

If you need me to link torrents for these games to you then you would NEVER understand how to download it. Or you are just plain stupid and could not use a site that is a simple and ordinary as google. FYI, google is a good place to start and even very good option for searching for torrents.

If you are not familiar with torrents and how to do this then I would suggest two things... one is a thread I posted on the old site with details of what I have learned torrents, how to search links to my most used search engines, how to optimize download speed, torrent engines, etc. Try starting with that thread.... if you want me to link that thread, I don't think I have the patience to search the archived site. But I am sure if it means enough to you that you will figure it out.

My final nugget, there is even a site dedicated to this exact idea.... a torrent database of sporting events.... FYI, I just watched a 1080i copy of last year's egg bowl.

I download torrents all the time. Saves me a ton on DVDs and lets me watch shows from premium channels like HBO without having to pay for said premium channel. But finding State torrents has been damn near impossible. So if you could just kindly link the torrent site and/or your previous thread, that would be awesome.

Exactly... I download torrents all the time from PirateBay... I search for Mississippi State Football and MAYBE three or four games pop up. No reason for Andy to act like a goddamned douche. Just link the ******* torrent site he uses...

Jesus!

/This is a perfect example of being a douche just to be SixPack cool.

Spot on, BMT. If there's a better site for sports, then just link the damn thing. Don't act like a douche and assume we're too stupid to use torrents. Obviously we just haven't found the right place for MSU torrents, so be cool and help us out.

I was in a bad mood and liked being a douche yesterday, sorry... Call me old school Coach34 if you wish.

Out of the house right now on the beach with my wife and daughter. I will use your list of games and see what is available.

There is a site that is specific for sporting events. I know I have it bookmarked but not sure which computer. Hopefully tonight I can get you some specific links.

Haha, no biggie. I found a football site called tenyardtracker.com It's pretty decent, but the more sites we can find, the better.

That is one of the sites I have used specifically for NCAA football games.... decent, and most of the ABC, NBC, CBS, and ESPN game of the week type games will show up.

There is one more site that I cannot think of from my current location that I will see if it still exists when I get home later tonight.

The site I am thinking of was an awesome indexing site for tv shows as well as movies, and a few years ago they started asking people to upload sporting events as they were creating an index by sport of any and all sports... I remember it took off like crazy for soccer but as I got better at finding streaming feeds to the events I wanted to watch I stopped paying attention to it.

You should call up the Ole Miss Athletic Office...

And ask if they do the same thing! That way if your office or place of work has a Christmas Party...get the last 3 years of the Egg Bowl to an die hard Ole Miss coworker and tell him it's the Cotton Bowl and Eli's greatest games and highlights. This would be the perfect gag gift!

These are great games... where I may be completely flawed is in the fact that very few games prior to about 2002 were streamed online let alone archived online. Therefore many of these older games would have to be specifically requested and uploaded by someone who has the capability to do so.

If anyone has the games saved digitally I can certainly host and upload the games through various sites. But the biggest flaw I have to any of my previous comments is the older games are not going to be available.
