Obviously, nobody saw the Rick Ray hire coming. Then today, I was surprised again when I saw where Grant nor Cunningham were retained but Brooks was. I understand his connection to the Hoods and East MS, but I still wasn't expecting it. Needless to say, this process has followed zero fan logic....so either we will be shown why we're fans and not coaches and this will be a success, or everybody's initial skepticism will turn to reality and this will be a train wreck. Either way this has been a series of gut feelings and ballsy decisions by Stricklin and Ray, and I like the fact that they aren't folding under the pressure of fans, boosters, and alumni and they're making their own decisions. If Ray is able to keep Hood, Gray, Sword, and the rest of the class, he could be on to something. People always say you have to take risks sometimes in order to get to the next level, and we will likely be able to look back in 3-4 years and determine if this big risk was a good one.
