so, the people that hired Slive would lateraccusehim of sticking up for the scumbag, instead of representing their best interests (which he was paid to do).<div>Good thing that never happened again</div>

just like with Richard Williams- tells co-eds to quit spreading their legs...girls know by the age of 16-17 what the hell they are doing- nobody is tricking them into anything-especially by the time they are 20...if they do something, its because they want to

Also, college basketball is one of the dirtiest businesses around. %*@%+**%+@$ and Pearl arent much different professionally- personally- yes, Stands is much more the family man

Tennessee has 3 Sweet 16's in 5 years under Pearl- I'd take him in a second...Just because he got caught- doesnt mean he is the only one doing it

when you post something like this, you stick to it, despite everything and everyone saying this is your chance to say "Wow, couldn't have expected that, guess we really don't want him," you say 17 that, I am sticking by my man. Kind of like an abused wife.

I used to just push your ******** to the side over the past several months, but this whole basketball season you have gone to another level. Your fetish for the Sweet 16 is so great, you'll risk probation just to go once. I'd rather run a clean program and get to the second round of the NCAA 5 or 6 out of every 10 years than get us there once, go on probation, and dismantle our program to the point we can't even sniff the NCAA. Our program was **** for many many years and now its respectable. If we took a chance on a guy, he cheats, we get hammered by the NCAA, then it would take years and years to build our program back. We're MSU, our only tradition goes back to the past 15 years. You think MSU baseball is hard to rebuild, imagine how hard our basketball program would be to rebuild.

If we were UK or even UT, bouncing back after the NCAA brings down the hammer would not take as long, but we are Mississippi State. I completely respect the expectations of reaching another level (like going to the Sweet 16 occasionally), but risking bringing Pearl in after he has proven time and time again he can't play clean would be our death sentence. Just look at our football program... it took in the ballpark of 7 or 8 years to get back to being competitive. Convincing recruits to come to State over the UKs and UTs of the basketball world is hard enough as it is, much less with tons of sanctions hanging over us. I have to give Stans credit for never putting us in a position to be in trouble with the NCAA and I hope it stays like that (aka not giving the NCAA a reason to set up shop in Starkville) because once the NCAA is here for basketball, they will be sniffing for a lot more than just basketball violations.

you are not this big of a worthless douchebag to believe this ****. Surely you are just 17ing with everyone.

Then again, it wouldn't surprise me. You've proven to be completely consistent in one thing - being a dick.

Other than being a snitch and an opportunist. Seems odd that he's getting grilled over this on Sixpack. He was obviously expedient back in the day. He then turned into a really good coach and a cheat, much like Nick Saban.

That other coach essentially said Bruce Pearl, Iowa, and the NCAA conspired against him with the "80K and a blazer" offer.

The former player said "Come on man, I went to Illinois for 80 grand a a Blazer? Thats crazy.." I don't think it's that crazy.

Having said that I'm sure Pearl is dirty. But trust me, MSU fans calling UT's basketball program dirty is a joke.

Pearl make up accusations that weren't true about another player, stalked him, tried to get Iowa to whatever it takes even going to his girlfriend and friends to get a confession or something to go on, he recorded conversations trying to get a kid to say something he didn't do, made tons of improper contacts to that player...yeah Pearl didn't look bad. Oh and the whole time he told Iowa to look out for himself. Do whatever it takes to get IL in trouble, but not the kid or myself.

But a story like that could be written about 95% of college basketball coaches in America. The other 5% just haven't been around long enough.

Pearl has long paid his penalty for that OLD NEWS!!! He got sent to division 2 and managed to crawl all the way back to 6 straight NCAA's with an SEC program and less than a year ago was 1 17ing point away from the final four!! He lied to the NCAA about a BBQ at his house that had high school juniors attending. He served an 8 game suspension and has been repeatedly bashed by the media all year long basically demanding a reluctant Tennessee to fire him. Bruce Pearl has been fired because he looks "dirty". He's a gel haired Armenian that spends too much time in the tanning bed and has the look of a sleazy car salesman but other than his lie to the NCAA in September what has he done that deserves this? Nothing!! I'd take Pearl in a heartbeat. This smells of racial profiling to me. Can't be racist to blacks anymore so who's next? Bruce Pearl cause he's sleazy and looks sleazy and look at what he did 22 years ago. Fire him!!!

He looks like he could be the house Dad for Jersey shore. Dirt and slezzzzy surrounds him. That has been the hallmark of his program.

..between the idiots who openly place bets for MSU sports teams to lose, added to the morons who want Mullen to cheat so we can win @ football, coupled with the nutjobs who claim the MSU basketball program is corrupt without producing an ounce of evidence to prove that, it's a miracle the SEC, NCAA & the Miss. State board of regents has not dissovled all athletic programs @ Miss. State University.

There is no way a university can have a fanbase this batshit ignorant & maintain it's athletic programs.

he looks like Pauly D in 30 years but since when has the look of sleaze been a reason for termination? What has he done to deserve to be fired? He had an incident 22 years ago that he has repeatedly paid for including being abolished to division 2 where he miraculously won a National Championship. Took Milwaukee to it's best seasons ever then most recently gave Tennessee it's best 6 years in their history. Not to mention raised hundreds of millions of dollars for the University. So again what did he actually do that deserved to be fired? Lying about a BBQ is no reason in my book. I'll take Pearl in a heartbeat.

I was a freshman in 96 when we made the final four. Before that semester ended, there were a lot of brand new Ford Explorers driving around campus with basketball players at the wheel. They were all from the same dealership. I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

That was obviously a long time ago, but things probably haven't changed much.

The reason is nothis success, it's in your last sentence. LYING when ask about something. Lying about BBQ, players, or money. It's LYING and that a heartbeat that we can do without.

I think Pearl is a piece of **** also, but there wasn't much hard evidence in that article. After reading it, I felt like Collins might be more guilty than Pearl was in the recalled incident.

Couldn't it be that they all signed with agents? At least for Dampier and Jones and possibly Wilson.

Was the dealership Mitchell Automotive?
