I didn't think I could hate the Clippers anymore than I already do....

They got rid of Reggie Evans and the 1st quarter is still going on...

but my Clipper hatred has doubled since last year.

Ed Davis keeping us in this one.... Not looking good.

ETA: Also, there is zero chance I'm gonna be able to stay awake for this one after enjoying about the most perfect weather there could ever be on a SBW Saturday. Although, with all the damn whistles, the game may still be going on when I wake up in the morning.

We looked like **** from the get go

They have to get this straightened out before game 2 or it will be a short series

Like I was afraid of, this one came down to the Grizz's inability to get rebounds. Too many offensive rebounds and second chance points for the Clips. That was the difference in the game. That's exactly what did the Grizz in last year.

I'm surprised we've done as well against the Clippers as we have the past two years. It's an absolutely terrible match up; an ultra-athletic 4 and 5 against un-athletic counterparts, with an elite point guard to feed them. They should beat us by 20 in every game we play, yet we've gone about even with them since they've been good. I know that sounds defeatist, but if anything it's a compliment to the Grizz.

Without the stat line I said we needed in an earlier thread I thought this series might go five games. We play like last night and it will be over in 4.

I think this is an overraction, to put it nicely. If the Grizzlies control the boards, they probably win game one. That alone was the difference in the game. It's all effort. The Grizz could win this series in five if they get their **** together. It's just as terrible of a matchup for them as it is for the Grizz. Neither of the Memphis big men can be guarded one on one, which is why they were selling out with double teams. But that doesn't work because Gasol is such a good passer, he can always find the open man. It's a matchup nightmare for them, too.

Rebounding. That is the difference. And it's nothing more than effort.

I agree whole heartedly. Sometimes you get outplayed, sometimes you get a few bad calls on the road, and then sometimes you just get outworked. Rarely does the latter happen to the Grizz, but they flat out got out hustled in every way Sat night. It was sickening to watch to tell you the truth. They looked like a team that had accepted the fact that they were going to get beaten before the tip off.

Well, since they blew their shot at home court advantage about a week ago, needless to say... tonight is huge. I don't know what the stats are, but teams that go down 2-0 to the team with home court advantage probably don't win the series very often.

It was a combination. Some bad shooting, some poor effort, lots of bad calls, and a lot of bounces that simply went straight into Clippers hands. How many offensive rebounds did some guy near mid court get? 10? There's not much you can do about that. I expect us to dominate the glass tonight, if the refs allow. Also, if I'm Lionel Hollins, I sent footage in of Paul's forearm shiver on every single drive to the league office. That **** needs to stop.

Grizz by 12 tonight.

Rarely do they get out hustled. Super rarely twice in a row.

I won't predict until I see how the whistles go. The refs play a huge role in this series. They need to let them play. And if Paul elbows someone the foul is on him, not the elbowee, as it was Saturday.

Also, these games are on way too late.

As per NBA officiating tendencies...

In Game 1, the first quarter lasted longer than Return of the King, so tonight they will be able to get away with aggravated assault.

The Clippers home games should be played in Dallas or something. It's not like anyone on the West Coast really cares at all about them. Or maybe New Orleans, since they were forced to trade him for Anthony Davis (that's what went down and you all know it). The only thing the Clippers are good for is being a minor league season ticket holder franchise until spots open up for the Lake Show.
