..... much, but just read recently somewhere that the big ripped OT from New Albany who was a solid lock for us a long time may now be wavering and looking at LSU a lot. Kind of a bummer when you expect one of the state's best to stick with you, but now may not. Err well, we're Mississippi State.

Yeah. He gone. We are celebrating 3 star commitments. Zero 4 stars. But hey, lot of y'all say stars dont matter. Of course they do but Lebby gonna have to coach them up I guess

Without knowing exactly why the young man decided to "de-commit" is there anything to really discuss ?

I dont have any specific info on this guy but I would imagine there aren't many 4 star players eager to join a team that optimistcally hope for 4 wins. Lebby gonna have to win some games and try to impress these recruits somehow.

I remember Ole Miss putting together a class that was very highly rated after they had a losing record. I guess that was at the beginning of NIL. We are so 17ed.

Football recruiting is not going well at all. Lebby has shown nothing to indicate he's going to be successful here. Another 0-8 season is highly possible. Football is in the midst of a dark era
While it’s June and 6 months before signing day for HS/JUCOs. Let’s no over react for the 26 class, it may may not be what some want now but let’s look at what Lebby has done with recruiting heading into this season.
28th ranked HS class
17th ranked portal class
That’s pretty solid recruiting classes coming off 2-10.

About the only thing this anecdote teaches us is that Lebby brings no intangibles to the table that attracts talent (outside of maybe QB prospects). Recruits have little to no regard for his track record (which was sparse to begin with). And he hired assistants who, themselves, bring nothing to the table in recruiting.

19 of the transfer portals signees are from P4 schools. 20 if you add Markus Allen who began his career at Wisconsin. Add Burroughs who played at AL as a freshman and transfered in from Miami. That’s legit 20/21 of 34 who came from P4 schools. Most were 4 stars coming out of HS.
Signed 5 four stars from the HS ranks

Is this year's MS high school 2026 class pretty strong? Looking at the ratings, there's 2 5-stars and 10-12 4-stars. That seems above average for Mississippi.

How did our in-state recruiting collapse so completely? Coaching turn-over? NIL? Two poor seasons in a row? All of the above?

Best thing for the 2025 football season. Watch, but keep emotions out of it. If Levee wins 4-5 we’ll know he’s on the right trek. Brutal schedule, brutal year. 2026 should bring schedule relief

Even before last season began, I felt as if we (MSU), were about to enter a football nuclear winter and could be 4-5 years before we actually started climbing out of it. And being predicted by everyone as a 0.00% chance to finish anything but last in the SEC sure didn't help. Self-fulfilling prophecy I suppose.

Ben Garrett from OM spirit got his dad and bunch of other ole miss boosters in New Albany to pile some money together to get him to Ole Miss.

Assume Lebby is a bust. Is there anyone hirable that would inspire the base to get the funds flowing to the point we can recruit well enough to be competitive? Competitive = 4-4 SEC and a top 30 program. Is that even possible in this new era? We're paying 3M to the baseball coach. Surely we can organize the masses to get the right football coach along with funds for crootin.

I fully expect us to circle back (as we have in the past) to an older retread coach and away from the untested assistant. We will be looking for that guy who is at the end of his coaching life and looking for easy money but who still has a little cachet that excites the fan base.

I buy that. Likely the best all around strategy for our program given we have to get people with money invested more in recruiting dollars. Is that more likely to happen with an unproven coordinator we promoted or a retread in the last quarter of his career? Probably the latter.

Christ, this is depressing.
