I don't think we host...

Yes, I have looked at SOS and RPI but we have lost 2 of 3 to Ark, LSU, Ole Miss, UK and a sweep by Vandy. Our only quality series win is USCe. I think we have to win two in the tourney to host. If we lose to Mizzou, pack your bags and I really wouldn't blame the committee. On a positive note, props to Cohen, he always has his teams playing well at the end of the year when it matters the most. We need to take care of business in the Tourney and remove all doubt.

I think we host as long as we stay in the SEC tournament as long as USC and Arkansas or at least close. We are on the inside looking out but that could change if we lose to Missouri and either one of those two make a run to the finals. I think the only thing that would put Arkansas hosting is if it was a geographical thing to get a host site closer to the mid west. When will the sites be announced, sun mon?

Because our 2nd game will be against ... South Carolina. Lose that one and we will be 2-2 against them and they will still be playing.

You may be right if we lose to Mizzou, but if we beat them, there just aren't 16 teams that can reasonably be chosen ahead of us.

i just 100% refuse to believe that anyone with half a brain can look at arkansas and see a team worthy of hosting. a quick glance at their resume beyond the conference record says it all. i just can't see it at all, and until proven wrong, i'm assuming the committee has basic common sense.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Tex AM are all top 50 RPI teams. Florida, Bama, and Auburn are all between 25 and 35. Those are quality series wins.

Bingo. Arkansas is our worst SEC loss. Don't let the names fool you, look at the numbers. We only lost 2 OOC games to a decent UCA team... that's it. We beat a decent Memphis, Oral Roberts, and USM, team (not great teams, but not scrubs). As others have pointed out, series wins against Florida, Bama, Auburn, and a sweep at TAMU are all positives on the resume.

Arkansas has a dismal OOC and one of the weakest conference schedules in the league... and did very poor OOC for a team ranked as high as they were.

If quality series wins is the basis on which they will decide, we'd need to know what standard to choose quality series, and see how the other teams competing for the last slots did in those series. I'd guess that teams looking at those last two or three slots are going to have similar resumes in this regard. For example, USC has a series victory over LSU, but none of those other teams.

I agree. We have a pathetic hosting resume...

RPI of 10; SOS of 5; 40 regular season wins; OOC record of 24-2; 19-14 vs. top 50. Have gone 7-3 in our last 10 games. 30-7 at home. 3-0 @ neutral sites.

Definitely looks like the resume of a #2 seed.**

Woe is us.

We will host. Our overall résumé is damn near National Seed worthy. If it weren't for a unfairly unbalanced SEC schedule causing us to go 16-14 in conference we would be a National Seed. We will host.

Not exactly--after playing Missouri it's double elimination. so if we lose to South Carolina, WE will also still be playing, and likely playing either Florida or Texas A&M.

I do worry a little that if we beat Missouri, our SECT game vs South Carolina will represent a single-game playoff to host, even though we already beat them 2 out of 3.

Are you sure you looked at them correctly?

Four of those series you mentioned were on the road. The one SEC series you mentioned was to the #4 RPI team in the country.

We swept Texas A&M, beat Florida, beat South Carolina, and then beat Auburn another likely regional team and swept another likely regional team in Alabama. On top of that, we have a road win a South Alabama, a neutral site win over Ole Miss and USM, an at worst neutral site win over Memphis which may be looked at as a road win for us, and a win over Austin Peay.

The resume is in place but...

a series loss to UCA coupled with 3 straight SEC series losses doesn't help. I think the UArk and UK losses may come back to bite us. Coupled with the fact that the committee stated they are going to take the conference tourney into consideration this year (more so) leads me to believe that if Mizzou bounces us out we will be #2 seed. It would suck, but it would be hard to argue against that decision. I'm sticking with my assessment that it will take two wins in the tourney for us to host. Most of you know that we get shunned when it comes to decisions like this....

3 straight series losses to begin the SEC schedule doesn't have anything to do with it. We followed that with 3 straight series wins. Then finished the conference schedule at 2-2 on series record. Regardless of what some folks want to make of that one UCA out of conference series, that is not going to make any difference. If we had won that series, we would still be the #10 rpi team. The pertinent numbers don't lie, we just need a particular group of people with some semblance of common sense when it comes to collegiate baseball to interpret the data. If there is a concern, that is it. Not our body of work during the season.

Don't forget that we don't have to win the first two in the SECT to get two wins there. I can imagine a scenario where we beat MIZZ, lose to SC, beat A&M before facing either SC or Vandy witrh two wins already under our belt. I think we're already hosting, but a win Tuesday removes all doubt

The losses to UCA are countered

No one will argue that this is the group vying for the final regional hosts

Mississippi State
Clemson
South Carolina
Arizona State
South Alabama
Kansas State

Four spots for these six teams.

Mississippi State's worst loss: 2x to #81 Central Arkansas
Clemson: #214 Winthrop
South Carolina: #140 Missouri and #116 Furman
Arizona State: Has six losses to sub 100 teams
South Alabama: #152 Nicholls State and #153 FIU
Kansas State: #194 Northern Colorado

So our worst losses are way better than the teams we are competing against. Additionally, take a look at Top 50 wins.

Mississippi State: 19
Clemson: 13
South Carolina: 11
Arizona State: 8
South Alabama: 5
Kansas State: 8

If you want to go conference series wins:

Mississippi State: 5-5 (did not play 3 worst teams in SEC)
Clemson: 6-5 (includes Boston College)
South Carolina: 6-4 (including 3 worst teams in SEC)
Arizona State: 5-4
South Alabama: 8-2 (but did not win Sun Belt)
Kansas State: 6-2

The point is that we were a solid host site all along, and it wouldn't have mattered if we had lost the Mizzou game.

In a (now 60 game) season, it is absolutely ridiculous to try to apply the weighting to single games that you attempted to do with the once again proven basically meaningless sec tournament.
