are they going to beat? I don't see them beating anybody in the SEC. To do so you have to stop the run! They lost Dorsey & Lockett, thier best 2 DL. And when they were in there they STILL couldn't stop the run. Honestly they way UTEP runs the ball I'm not sure they can beat them either.

There is so much talent here, i wish we could regularly pull 1 or 2 out of here. lsu, bama and arkansas just live down here recruiting in Houston/East Texas(&Dallas metro area too). heck when Oklahoma plays Texas every year, it is the Oklahoma Texans playing the Texas Texans.

Driving home last friday listening to one of the sports talk radio stations, some guy down in Sugarland calls in and says Les Miles is having dinner at the pizzeria there... they call him and talk for awhile...of course not about specific players, but i then see LSU is after a stud out of Missouri City and a stud out of Elkins High (southwest Houston metro). U of H under the coach now at Baylor and Sumlin(now at Texas A&M) recruited the second tier athletes in the area and they have some real talent playing for them. Houston metro about 10 hours away from StarkVegas and Melvin is very familiar with this area...LSU makes a living pulling instuds from this general area.. Bama is over here all the time...there are probably twice as many D1 athletes here as in Miss(population twice that of Miss)....get over here Dan....

recruiting

1. Did he sign a class that is better than last year or at least equal?

2. Did he sign a class that included positions that we currently are in need of more depth and talent?

3.Did he not losemany of the guys that he was heavily targeting to someone else?

I think he accomplished all three this year. In year's past we know he was having a lot of problems with #3, hence "CLOSING". It's really not that hard to understand. Notice one of the criteria is not "Did he recruit better than OM?" That was just icing on the cake. I won't deny that I am happy as hell about that and I don't think I should be ashamed of it at all. You are our rivals and we definitely compete for the same recruits year in and year out. But if OM was ranked #10 in the nation inrecruiting and we were #11and we were able to successfully do all three things listed above, I'd be much happier than I am right now about our current class.

I'm waiting.
Todd's entire post was completely dedicated to Mississippi State and Dan Mullen's recruiting ability. All you're trying to do stir up a stupid pissing contest... No other school was even mentioned in the entire post. You bring new meaning to the term "dumbass."

1. MS has the best JUCO football in the nation, it would be foolish not to take advantage of it.
2. MS just doesn't have the number of prospects to choose from as more populous states in the Southeast but we can help offset that by utilizing the JUCOs available in the state.
3. JUCOs SHOULD be able to be more easily evaluated than most MS HS guys. Its a lot easier to watch how a guy has already physically deveoped 2 years out of HS and how he might fare in the SEC seeing him compete against other JUCO competition than it is to watch a guy play lower division MS HS competition and try to project him playing in the SEC.

we finished 15th in the nation in the final polls and they all had to run over here with the "but, but, but you finished 5th in the SEC West". Well I'll take finishing in the Top 25 in the football polls or football recruiting or whatever every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Nobody here is claiming we are National Championship material yet but we are well on our way to building a program that can compete with ANYONE on any given Saturday and I personally am very happy with that for the moment.
