I firmly believe that Alabama had the refs in their pocket last night.

It was nice to see the even LSU can't outbid the mighty Tahd. I mean, come on. Basically no penalties all night (until mop-up time)? You're telling me that not a single offensive lineman had to hold? Not a single clipping on a kickoff return? I know that I saw two very borderline late hits on Bama. Also, that spot on the fake field goal was very generous, as I suspect the spots were all night.
I don't think it would have changed the outcome, but SEC refs are as dirty as they come.

I saw one play where the LSU defensive player over ran the blocker and when the blocker was on the ground he reach out a triped the LSU defensive player. It was on one of those short to first down plays. The LSU guy would have tackled the runner before he made the first down.

Any time you have boosters willing to pay a high school coach 150k to help get a guy on their campus you have willing boosters who will pay anyone for any advantages. Yes the 150k happened and it was a Alabama booster who did it. The coach got convicted, the booster committed suicide and Alabama got put on Probation. Those people are out there. With the economy bad and money tight you can't tell me that a Big-12 official or any college official can not be bribed. Not saying it happened but you can't convince me that out of all the Officials in the NCAA someone hasn't ever been bought. Alabama was going to win last night with or with out the refs but it's sure is suspicious you go three and one half Quarters with no flags. Like two years ago when Alabama play 10 games and no holding calls. That't BS!

Just saying.

that the refs were just "letting them play" last night. The way any major championship should be officiated. Unless something was just totally egregious, they were just letting them play through it. They could've called a lot of stuff both ways and didn't. Good move if you ask me.

there were no holding or clipping calls against LSU either. Most of LSU's penalties were procedure or delay of game.

The spot on the fake field goal was correct - if anything, they actuallymarked it short of his forward progress. Besides, the play was reviewed and upheld.

The refs had nothing to do with the outcome of the game last night. LSU's lack of preparedness was the determining factor. It looked like they rolled up and said "We're playing 'at home' and we already beat these guys once; this one's in the bag."</p>

They did not honor their pledge. On a side note I think they all had boners because they were actually seeing how it felt to call a SEC football game. They were just taken back and got relax.

They let them play. Both teams would have gotten 15 yarders for late / out of bounds hits if SEC refs called this game. Neither got flagged for it. They did a good job. I thought Jefferson horsecollared Mosely, but the slow mo replay showed he did not.

Sure, they probably missed some calls (the missed facemask on one of McCarron's scrambles comes to mind), but what officiating crew doesn't? As long as they call the game the same for both teams, there's not much more than you can ask.

Alabama had weeks to prepare for a very limited quarterback. Last time they had game planned for Lee and the shift to Jefferson caught them offguard.

There were plenty of times holding could have been called but it wasn't for either team. The only procedural penalty I thought they should have been calling was on Bama during the kickoffs. They had multiple guys, multiple times who were way out past the kicker. Although, this is a call that is overlooked a lot during the regular season too. Sorta like a short stop in baseballnot touching second base during a double play unless it is really obvious.

It's not just about being fair. It's about inforcing the rules. The rules are there for a reason. By god if you 100 flags in a game you have 100 flags. Sooner or later they will learn not to hold, block in the back or hit out of bound. If you let them get away with one thing they will try another. If you let them get away with that they will try another one. Then it get's out of hand and you end up with a very good player getting hishead bashedbecause some jack *** put a illegal hit on him.

I agree and if you read all my post you will see that I said it had nothing to do with the out come. My point is this: I understand they can't see everything but if you see it call it. The rules are there for a reason. </p>
