This from today's blog on the goal-line strip:

"Even had the call gone the way State had wanted it, the deficit would have still been nine points in the fourth quarter, and State's offense hadn't proven in the game that it could dependably move the ball up the field, much less score twice."

I thinks its just the OM ties that bother me the most.

Let the Ole Miss thing go. He's not an Ole Miss fan, he just went to school there.

At that time, we would still have been down 9 points with the ball on our own 20. It's more likely that we would have punted or turned it over than score. The only time it looked like we were really moving the ball was the first few plays Relf had.

True Six Packers are realistic ...

We've been getting too many nancy/gene-boys lately. Ringtones, prayers needed, etc ...

Sure we hadn't moved the ball any, but who's to say we couldn't have after the non-fumble/touchback? Just because we hadn't done it yet in the game doesn't mean it couldn't have happened. Thats what really got under my skin about them not overturning the call. It literally could have been a game changing play, because we could have gained some confidence and momentum.

But, with that said, even though we could have gotten it together on offense, we probably wouldn't have. That would have been a long field to conquer. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, yaddi yaddi yah.

The guy is engaged to an MSU student. I think I saw him walking around the junction a few hours before the game. Give it a rest.

then you make a good point.

The 11 guys on Def from FL had a lot to say the whole night about our offense moving the ball.

I don't disagree with trying to win the game on the 4th down, but that broke our back and sealed our faith.. on a stumble wr reverse with 2 yards to go!

don't really know if it's because Mullen slights him sometimes (i.e. letting Sherrill view practice and not him), or if he's just plain gassed, but for some reason I feel like he doesn't like his job anymore. It's got to be tough in that industry when you work your balls off and there is virtually no ladder. Does anyone else hear this in his tone? It's almost like he's just unhappy sometimes. Just an observation.

Get the refs to do their jobs well and let the players try to do the same. Put the win or loss on the players.

Maybe we score, maybe we don't. There is no excuse for blowing the call. Wins and losses are irrelevant to a ref making a call on a particular play. You make the correct call and let the wins and losses be decided by the players and coaches.

They probably would have beaten us anyway. However, in no way does that excuse a blown call.

So a 7 point swing in points is irrelevant? The refs had a HUGE impact on the game.

I am not convinced at all that we would have one if the fumbled were called a fumble. And that's the sad part - we'll never know. The refs reduced what chance we did have for pulling an upset.

I am saying that a ref should always try to get the call correct. It doesn't matter if the score is 10-10 or 100-0. Make the correct call so that the game is decided by the players and coaches. If a referee flat blows a call in a 35-0 game, that doesn't make his mistake okay. He still blew the call. I agree that the refs had a huge impact. I am disagreeing with Veazey saying that it doesn't matter because we probably wouldn't have won anyway. Whether or not we win or lose should be decided by MSU and Florida players, not referees. Veazey almost excuses the mistake based on it not having an outcome the win/loss (in his opinion). That doesn't matter. Get the call correct. Period.

Exactly. For the ones who say we would have lost anyway.........maybe we should just let the Vegas boys decide. We were a 25 point underdog......why even play the game. Sure would save a lot of money ....no stadium, equipment, scholarships, etc needed. Just vote on who will win.

subtle jabs from him often also. there are a lot of people on here who won't acknowledge though in their quest to "objective" or somehow otherwise enlightened and above the "average" msu fan.

I don't understand how anyone can be agitated about what was said... it is the truth. Maybe you had a little too much wool in the eyes...

and unfortunately too many MSU fans don't realize what a good job he does at it. As a reporter, it's not his job to sugar-coat the game. So, what do you expect the guy to say?

I think what we don't realize is if he gets that first down on the fake punt,
we would be praising Mullen right now saying it was a great, creative call.
Instead, it failed and its considered a dumb decision.

Florida's coaches were adjusting to everything we did on offense. Mullen was trying to catch them before they could adjust and score more points. The reason he faked the punt was because he realized that we weren't going to drive on Florida's defense the way things were going. The reason Meyer made the comments he did was because he knew it too. I'm not saying I agree with that call, but our offense needed a kickstart because Florida had our number. Bama and Florida have the best defenses in the nation by far - they both have great players and fantastic coaching. We won't score much on Bama either.

but being agitated by that statement DOES make you an overly sensitive douchebag; go back to Jean's Page.
