I go through spells where I think I don't care much about MLB....

...and then something silly like an ALCS being played in a domed stadium in Tampa, FL happens and it sucks me back in. There is no tension in sports like a close baseball game with everything riding on it.

unless they are for the rare miniature cow breed.

Those things look more like dinner bells than cowbells. I'd feel like a ***** ringing something like that.

You can even tell from listening that it is a higher pitch noise than what you hear in Starkville.

Throw a rookie out there with the bases loaded in the 8th inning of Game 7 of the ALCS. Then he shuts them down in the 9th.

He is going to be good for a long, long time.

I had flashbacks of him mowing down 12 batters at an Ole Miss game two years ago. He's going to be great. Just hope he doesn't go all Mark Prior.

we gave some away at a pro tennis event i worked in houston a few years ago. they're VERY cheap, and come with a color and logo. the fans love them.

Point being, if one of your State buddies brought one of those promotional cowbells to a game in Starkville, he'd be endlessly ridiculed until he put it away. I guess they may technically be cowbells, but nothing about the look or sound of them reminded me of MSU. Your cowbells are better than that.

but if state was handing them out at games, it would probably be fine for everyone to be ringing them. or at least those who didn't have real cowbells. it actually would be pretty cool for our athletic department to hand them out when we go to a bowl game (if we ever get back to one...).

check out the promo bells at cowbell.com. we got the bargain bells and gave them away, and i am pretty sure i saw the same thing at the rays game.

i like the idea of giving them to all the fans. i'm sure the fans do too. and they probably have no idea that real cowbells are very different from what they have. but you are right - our cowbells are WAY better than those.

They gave away the blue cowbells at a game against the sox a month or so ago.. Pretty cool.. getting to ring a cowbell for a winning team ;>

The y have been ringing the larger bulldog version for years out in bleachers and it has started to catch on as the team has started winning. (you know, people actually going to games)

MLB had lost my interest over the last few years as well with steroid scandals etc, but this team has really captured my attention living in Tampa.. It is almost like watching a college team. (and their payroll is most likely less than some)
