I will copy and paste from NAFOOM (with some alteration) a projected starting lineup for us next year. How do you all think next year will shape up compared to this year for both teams? I respect the college baseball knowledge on this board or I wouldn't ask the question.

Some think Henry should be back. I don't know that I agree with that so I did not include him below.

Miller - 3B
Mort - SS
Ferguson - 2B
Smith (maybe)/Snyder - 1B and DH
David Phillips - OF
Taylor Hashman - OF
Hightower - C (maybe Hamblin if he comes)
____________ - OF

On the mound:

Pomeranz
Maybe Irwin
Maybe Morgan
Aaron Barrett
Kyle Barbeck - if he comes back
Goforth
Michael Park

No doubt about it I would expect you all to be competitive again next year, and as he said above we have no idea who will be playing baseball for state next year.

Major league teams expect guys to be able to hit the ball further than 200 feet. Sure, he had a good average, but his game will suffer at the next level. You have to put at least a little bit of stroke in it with a wood bat to put it between the third baseman and right fielder.

I've seen Henry projected as a second round pick. I can understand where you're coming from though.

The biggest thing I've seen with him is he needs to learn how to occasionally pull the ball more or MLB teams will do what State did to him and just put a shift on and let him line the ball out to the SS.

P- Routt (shocking)
P- CC Watson- chance he may not come, but I feel pretty good about our chances of getting him.
P- Committee of assorted Fr. In no particular order- Bole, Bracewell, Stratton, Miller, Girordo, Lane. I mentioned this before- I would have the Sunday guy TBA every week. And these players would fill different roles every week in order to get experience in the SEC in a variety of roles and put them in a situation where there isn't a whole lot of pressure on them. Now, if someone steps up, by all means, they get the job.

Midweek- Tyler Whitney- to try to steal/insure some midweek wins that could be valuable for us
Midweek- Ricky (don't mess with my Daddy) Bowen

Closer- Micheal Dixon or Devin Jones

Catcher- Cody Freeman- I don't think Cohen has seen what he can do behind the plate when he is healthy
Catcher- Wes Thigpen

1B- Duffy/Bright depending on how he adjusts
2B- Ryan Powers/Rawdow
3B- Sneed- only spot on the infield that I feel is set in stone
SS- Nick Vickerson

RF- Collins
CF- Trey Johnson
LF- Brownlee

DH- Adkins/Duffy

Runey Davis and Jaron Shepherd could give us a big boost in the OF, but I'm not counting on them. I think Jet gets drafted and leaves, even if it is low.

I am still hearing two sides about freeman leaving. I hope he stays because he would be crucial, but I am not sure. I also think jet's fielding may keep him in school another year.

...& as far as being the first Rebel to post here today, it would make this an infintely more pleasant Monday if you were also the last Rebel to post here today.

I can tell you why Henry will get drafted. It's two reasons, 1) speed, and 2) patience at the plate.

You can't teach his kind of speed, and you can't teach his plate discipline. It would help him if he'd learn to pull the ball more and if he'd learn to hit to the gaps more often, but those things are things that teams know they can teach at the minor league level. It's much harder to teach a guy how to have a good eye and how to work a count. He's a prototypical lead off man. He'll get on base a ton in multiple ways, and he'll steal bases.

...I can see how you would ban MSU posters over all the Rebels that have taken over & ruined your board.

That would be about your speed.</p>

I don't care who posts here as long as they make valid points. That's where you fail.

We don't have a "Ronny" anymore, you stupid dolt. When are you going to lose "Ronny" like Greg Byrne did?

See Matt Richardson and Andy Rice. Also check out the juco stats for Ole Miss' Michael Hubbard, Taylor Hashman, and David Phillips.

Understood. Just felt the need to get a shot in at Raffo after all the "we chose not to recruit X" examples over the weekend.

...I just think a Miss. State message board should strongly defer to all things Miss. State.

Except in rare circumstances, I don't want to hear Ole Miss opinions about Miss. State on a Miss. State message board.

And if an Ole Miss fan is going to list the 2010 Ole Miss baseball roster less than 24 hours after choking away yet another super regional, I'm definitely going to jump in & make a wisecrack.

because I think it would be wise for him to do so. I don't think Cohen cares much for his defense and baserunning skills, and I could see Jet sitting on the bench in favor of Ryan Powers who plays better defense, Rawdow, or Ogden.

If that happens, Jet probably won't get a shot at the pros.

It would shock the hell out of me. The whole "I'll kill you situation" really boiled down to him walking into Cohen's office and bitching about everything he felt Cohen did wrong and him not going by the book. I just see each side realizing there is a difference of opinion on how things should be ran and a parting of ways.

to come back at the very least. Powers is not a bad defensive player, and despite any differences they may have, Powers made a lot of improvement offensively not going by the book.

And who knows? Players blow up like that from time to time. He may have just been frustrated with losing and said some stuff he didn't mean.

Got a friend connected to some one in Jet's family that said he was told possible fourth round pick to White Sox, or at least thats who he thought the team was. I find it hard to believe he would go that high, but I'm like you in that it might be in his best interest to go, whatever round he's drafted in.
