Beth knows a change needs to happen. But does it make more sense financially to hold on to Brands for another year to soften the buyout burden. Combine that with not having a clear obvious replacement and it makes sense for her to punt.

Its just not a fun place to be right now as an Iowa fan given the current product and the realization it's just a matter of time. Tough situation for her too given how passionate we are.

You aren't bringing in anyone new fancy assistant because the minute that coach tries to teach something Brands doesn't like it will be met with full resistance. Any good assistant coach worth a darn wont sign up for that. We don't need more yes men on the staff.

No clue if any change will happen, but alot of people on here talking in absolutes as if they really know. No way Tom would ever do X......No way JB or Nolf would be an assistant for a year or 2 first, or be HWC coach if Brands is still here.....all alpha males and won't work together... always....no way... Think there are legitimate options here to make it work, but we'll see if any happen. And honestly, if JB, Nolf, Dake, or any other options are that ego driven and 'alpha males', I don't want them even if Brands is gone. Big egos lack leadership and humility, and just as likely to be the next 'stubborn neanderthal' coach folks are whining about in a handful of years. But until I see otherwise, not buying that some of these guys can't find a way to work well together for a couple years if needed and pay is right.

I don’t think you will find two coaches more alpha male than TnT. And they do.not.play.well.with.others, imo. Bridges are regularly burned to the ground. And they are some of the most stubborn people I know.. That might have helped them become great wrestlers, but coaching is different.

Based on my reading from the article that is not accurate:

“Brands’ salary for the current season is $725,000, and that will bump to $750,000 in 2026-27. Even though men’s wrestling loses money on Iowa’s balance sheet, precedent has shown that Goetz would not be held up by finances if she wanted to make a leadership change. That said, Brands’ contract buyout without cause does drop from $750,000 to $500,000 on July 1. (Terry Brands’ buyout would be the lesser amount of $250,000 or the remaining dollars on his contract, which expires on June 30, 2028.)”

OK, so we have beaten the ssshHHHEEET outa the dead horse about COACHES both here and in other threads!!!!

Lets move on to what you would do/who you would try to get for NEXT SEASON!!!!

We have some HORSES left in the stable but we are LOSING a lot AND we are MILES behind!!!! A lot has gone wrong this year from injuries, to wrestlers leaving, to decommits etc.....

What I see as GOOD. DeLuca, BLOCK, ARNOLD, FERRARI, LUNDINGTON. with possible others such as KRUETER, BAILY, WILLIAMS, ESTRADA???? Have a few others who MAYBE can break out????

BAD, We lose CALI, KENNEDY, AYALA and we ONLY have 1 of those weights filled, ARNOLD 174 with what I would consider at a level we need!!! I have NO idea what is going on with KRUETER and what his plan is for next year? IF he plans on playing Football? He is pretty much done for us!!! B1G problem is, we have zero here that can help!!!

WILLIAMS is also a B1G question???? I mean IF we look at it with our Pat.pending HAWKEYE Homer 26-27 glasses!!! It appears that we have

You MIGHT think????? I don't know...... hmmmm , that the "club coach" just might..... meaning he may...... at least on occasion, STEP IN & WORK WITH the IOWA WRESTLERS!!!!!!

I mean we TALK about moving TERRY all the time. Do you think IF we ever did move him that he would ONLY work with the club guys????? Right now he is a COACH on the MENS Wrestling team, but appears to work with the club????????

HOLY GOD, someone get me a HAMMER or a DOCTOR!!!!!!! IF IOWA could ever lure JB into ANY position, where he could work with ALL Wrestlers and/or ANY wrestlers(how is that<<<<<????) it would be pretty darn SWEET!!!!!
