It's looking more and more like Levee is in way over his head and may not be the guy. 2025 may be as ugly as 2024. We'll be heavy underdogs in all be but three games. Vegas will likely set our O/U at 3 or 3.5.

If we go 3-9, we can't keep him. At 5-7 I think we will be heading in the right direction. 4-8 will be the point that a decision will need to be made.

I'm much more positive than the average SPSer, but even I can't pick out much to point to to show we are heading in the right direction (he did have a nice HS singing class, but that's about it).

If we start out 2-2, we have to fire him at that point, no need in prolonging the misery.

Who are some candidates? I say we pull a UNC and position ourselves as an NFL training ground. Vrabel isn't coaching this year, but he'll likely get a head coaching job in the offseason. I'd zero in on Kliff Kingsbury, yes he failed at his first NFL job (like so many others), but NFL experience is going to be key in managing the portal.

This just sprang to your mind on a random Sunday night? Seems more like a Wednesday topic.

This has been hashed out 100 times. We need an older experienced coach on his last stop.

I have always taken the "when things are going bad, its never as bad as it seems" point of view when it comes to Mississippi State sports. I just can't bring myself to believe that right now. Something is different and I think the problems are caused by a perfect storm of the (1) era of college athletics in which we find ourselves, (2) made worse by Mississippi State's inherent disadvantages, (3) made even worse by bad leadership from top to bottom, and (4) good old fashioned incompetence.

The complete bungling of the portal pushed me over the edge. If Lenny Levee thinks rolling into 2025 with Shapen as the starter is a good move, that's all I need to know.

It’s been obvious Lebby is in aver his head almost from the beginning. And next year won’t be any better. He’s a dead man walking. Only question is, what are odds Keenum & Selmon can make a good hire next time.

A worse mistake than keeping Lebby around would be to let Selmon or Keenum be involved in the next football head coach hire.

I think this explains the mishandling of mvb and the miss on Arnold. Its an act of desperation. Not thinking logically but a gamble that blew up in his face.

Hopefully they aren't the ones pulling the trigger, otherwise, Vegas wouldn't post those odds
Honest question, who would make the decision if Selmon and Keenum don't? I mean, it's not possible for anyone else to make the decision assuming they are still here by the end of next season (they will be).

Any yes, Lebby is clearly in over his head.

Levee? I swear the nicknames made by grown men on this board are pretty embarrassing at times. I mean levee? Lenny? Are these supposed to be insults?

It's been an unfortunate staple of the board since the days of c34 and his band of merry imbeciles insisted on calling our basketball coach Stans.

I’m assuming those are just autocorrects that didn’t get fixed.

So bye bye, Mr. Van Buren guy,
Drove his Chevy to see Levee but he said, “the fund’s dry”

And them Bulldog boys were drinking whiskey and rye, saying “transfer portal really should die.”

Honest answer to your honest question, I truly hope the 2 of them are in the rear view mirror when that decision is made. Selmon is as in over his head as you say Lebby is and Keenum has run his course and needs to find something else to do somewhere else

im not sure being an assistant coach on a 1-8 team in small division jv football makes someone an expert, but he seems to know more than every coach who has ever lived.

Huh, I thought he was a condom salesman. His very existence is an advertisement for their necessity.

Do you think Cohen made the decision to hire Freeze? I doubt it, likely Jimmy Rane and two or three other families who are the biggest donors most likely made that decision. Do we not have two or three big time boosters who have a lot of input on these decisions?

There needs to be a movement to have Keenum replaced. That is step one in correcting the trajectory of the university as a whole. The issues go well beyond athletics. Start with a change in university leadership. Continue with a change in athletic leadership. Then show Lebby the door.
I think Keenum could be salvaged. But I'd love to know more about the issues beyond athletics. I've always heard this and I've never seen anything that proved that Keenum was a major factor behind it.

Correct, and if all we’re going to do is tape Oklahoma assistant names onto a roulette wheel and spin it, I’m sure that AI could handle that for us
