I really do.

My father just informed me that one of his friends at church e-mailed John Cohen and told him that he didn't like him "calling out his players in the press." Apprently Cohen e-mailed him back saying that "Maybe that he shouldn't have done that and that he would think about it." Then the guy who sent the e-mail was mad because the next day Cohen chewed out Whitney in the dugout. Nevermind the fact that no one knows what Whitney did and may very well have done something to deserve it. Nervermind that I've seen Jackie and Croom do this to players as well.

Good God. We FINALLY get someone that is TRYING to win, and then we have "fans" that pull this ****. I wonder how many people e-mailed Croom when he said something stupid? I wonder how many people sent Polk a letter saying to stop focusing on the NCAA and focus on the team he is TRYING to coach? I mean holy ****. Am I the only one here who sees the double standard? Why do people give morons like Croom and Polk a pass and then Cohen yells at a guy- in all likelihood for a good reason- and people feel the need to send him e-mails.

State fans that are not used to trying are going to have to make an adjustment. I don't about Mullen yet as far as his personality on the field and such yet, but as far as Cohen he is known to be an intense guy. He wants to win worse than anything in the world. He wants to win for MSU and wants to take us to the next level. And he's not going to let anyone stand in the way of that. People say that he's not going to get players because he yells- that's stupid- especially considering that we already have either the top or second best player in the state locked up as a jr. and 1/3 of this years Dandy Dozen not to mention some talented players from Alabama. I'll tell you what he's not going to get- pussies that don't care about winning. And I don't want them either. People need to understand that when Cohen calls a player out- and I'm not talking media here, I'm talking during a game in the dugout or at practice and yells at them, he's not trying to break them down. He's trying to make them better so that the TEAM can play better.

I just don't understand this loser mentality that people have, and furthermore it pisses me off to no end that someone would be so self righteous enough- someone who doesn't no **** about baseball much less winning or coaching it- would have the damn gall to e-mail the coach and then be proud because he got a response. Big man indeed.

That is all. I know that we're not the ones that need to hear this, but I just needed to rant because my Dad "had to go" after he stated that he didn't think that the team would respond to Cohen" and I shot him down with the fact that we have made a four game improvement over last year with a less talented team and the fact that our stats have improved over last year in all categories. He said, "Well, that's true...ughhhhh...gotta go bye." I just needed to vent.

Someone feel free to copy, cut, and paste this on the Lake where the people need to hear it- free or premium, I don't care.

I had wondered why John said what he said the pregame show today; now it all makes sense

Cohen apologized in the pregame about his interaction with Whitney from Friday night

Basically said he has times where he rides the players too hard and he apologized

Also said the TV cameras got a split second of the interaction and did not show the whole exchange

Then went on to say how Whitney did a specactular job and the way he competed is how he wants his players to play

and will help MSU in any way they can, but will sit their *** at home next Saturday instead of coming to the spring game.

I know that sounds sheepish, but damn, Mullen specifically said this was important to him. Our athletic department is doing everything in their power to promote. It's Super Bulldog Weekend. It's free to get into. We should be able to get 30-40K pretty easily. But we won't.

no because then the guy would know that my Dad told me.

But I will say that something we could do is e-mail Cohen and tell him how much we support him and what he is doing. I know that sounds sheepish, but I think you have to fight wool with fire.

We have some fans that don't understand a high level of competition and how to instill tat type of competition. They have seen Polk sit on his *** and be classy to the boys, yet he has destroyed our program and that aint classy. Its like I have said before, we have some fans that absolutely do not understand that the talent is not currently at MSU. They believe that the reason that we're struggling is because Polk isn't at the helm. I heard some of these people at the Sunday Auburn game. They believe that because we are MSU, we are still the supreme baseball progfram in America and we don't have to work for it.

They would say, "Come on guys, you know we can do this".

This being yelled out in the biggest soccer mama voice as the fifth straight walk was being issued. I want to choke some of our fans sometimes. They have no clue what is going on and don't know what to expect in a program except to have some "good kids".

it doesn't bother Cohen not one bit. Hey I also believe coaches get letters, e-mails and calls all the time from complaining fans.
I think Cohen has better things to worry about than some stupid e-mail. Just saying.

P.S. "You can't fix stupid"

just how good the SEC is. UT has a CF that is almost a lock to be a first round pick and they have two pitchers that were Fr. All-Americans- Morgado and Hernandez. I don't know what's going on over there, but they even have some talent. I'm not that as an excuse for this weekend, but I'm saying that even the worst teams have guys that can play.

The SEC used to be MSU and LSU. Now you'll see as many MLB prospects going to Dudy-Noble as you would Trustmark Park. That's EVERYBODY.

And this the least talented MSU team I have EVER seen. We're trying to compete without a freaking bullpen.

But I'll tell you what pissed me off was not even the fact that they acknowledged the improvements, but that they were more concerned about Cohen yelling at people than anything. I don't think they care if we're any good or not.

Again, I don't know what Whitney did. I doubt Cohen chewed him out for no reason, though. And furthermore, that was a conversation IN THE DUGOUT and the guy operating the camcorder for UT happened to catch it.

Cohen was the correct hire...and he will win here

However, I predicted earlier, that a large percentage of our fan base would not like how he goes about getting to the end result

that's mostly b/c we have a fanbase of losers. People who really do want everything done the right way, wins be damned. It really is embarrassing.

I happen to be one of those who think it is possible to have a winning mentality AND discretion. I don't think competitiveness and tact are mutually exclusive concepts. Some people on here seem to think cussing and carrying on is the only way to win. That is simply not true.

They only thing that I can think of that would make Cohen go off on him was that maybe Whitney shook off a pitch or two that was called from the dugout.

to succeed, leadership must be bold and unwavering. Cohen and Mullen are that. Change scares some people.

Was that Cohen said that the camera didn't show the whole interaction. I wonder if Whitney said something to Cohen.

And you are right- he could very well have shook off a pitch because he did give up a lead off home run to their SS.

Again who knows? That kind of stuff is supposed to stay in the dugout, anyway.

that think that our baseball players don't drink alcohol, don't miss church unless they're playing a baseball game, make staight A's, and have nice girlfriends that they don't kiss until marriage.

They apparently have somehow blocked out Will Clark, Pete Young, Scott Polk, and Papelbon stories. I mean, people still talked about those guys when I was in school despite the fact they graduated at least six years before me- sans Polk and Papelbon.

One of my favorite Genespage moments was when someone posted a picture of a bunch of baseball players at a bar- probably Rick's, I think. It was promptly deleted and the official sheep excuse was that the players were "at a birthday party".

Yes, we've had our Burke Masters, Tommy Raffo's, and Jeremy Jackson's, but we've balanced it out with some hell raisers.

I do not have a clue if Cohen is the right hire or not...he is definitely intense and that is quite a change from Polk. But I do know that hate is a strong word especially when directed at people you do not know....all you know is they seem to disagree with you. The talent level of this team is running on empty and the guys are certainly are not giving up as evidenced by today's game. It is good seeing the emotion. Coach needs a couple years to bring his type of players into his system and then we will know more about his ability to return MSU to baseball prominence. Until then, just tolerate the folks who disagree with you or do not offer the type of support you want. Of course if you want to continue to hate them it is your right to do just that.

being to loud.... we got this big new system and we can't even use it to its full potential because the old people don't like the loud music.. It's funny because at Ole Miss they blair their music and it pumps the crowd and the players up and the old people there dont seem to care

with me as much as it is the lengths that they went to make their opinion heard. Let the man coach. How many times did we hear that during the Croom era? And I wonder how many times Croom was e-mailed about some of the stuff he did- such as saying he didn't care about the fans? Polk was making baseball coaching feaux paux's everywhere, and couldn't be questioned becuase he "wrote a book".

And yet, we finally get someone who's actually trying to make us better, and this guy takes it upon himself to call the guy out- despite the fact he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

Maybe Cohen should have had a press conference saying that we were going to go through a 12 year rebuilding project. It might have helped his e-mail inbox a little bit.

Like I said, the biggest problem I have is that this guy is interfering with Cohen's job- albeit for a second- by being a douchebag.

And as far as hate- yes, I hate losing, and yes I hate people that have a losing attitude.

If you want to act self-righteous let me tell you something a choir director- one of the best in the state, and by the way not coincidentally I sing in one of the best church choirs in the state, and country for that matter- told us. He said when Jesus hung on the cross, he didn't say you can nail my hands, but you can't nail my feet. Jesus didn't say you can nail one hand. Jesus gave it ALL. And Jesus expects us to give our all in EVERYTHING we do to glorify HIM.

So you'll have to forgive me for hating the actions of people that give less than their best and expect less than the best from others. And then act pompously brag about it in church no less, which is where this guy told my Dad about his e-mail from Cohen.

Wow...just wow...thanks for the insight there.

Todd, I am starting to hate part of our fanbase also. Apparently they don't want a winner at the helm of our teams. They would rather just ***** about little things that are in no way important to MSU's success.
