but Porkchop's post in the Tuscon/Starkville thread has emboldened me.

Is anyone else following the shitstorm regarding Mayor Wiseman's veto of the Board Aldermen's appointment to the Starkville School District Board? To make this relevant, Parker was the 6pack's preferred candidate a year ago.

The lesson of the civil rights era...sorry, exactly theOPPOSITE of the lesson of the civil rights era.

Ifthey really want to get a candidate who is "representative of the district" perhaps they should limit it to 11- and 12-year-olds.

i would think that a 20 year superintendent would know a thing or two about education. you can prefer who you prefer and thats fine, but conley was at least as qualified as tomlinson.

Parker makes a living on black people. always has. In college, he was elected SA President and Mr. MSU because he catered to the black students so much. He was also a member of the Black Student Alliance (forgive me if that isn't the correct name of the organization, but you get the picture). The point is this: Parker knows that if he keeps the blacks happy, he'll be the mayor for years and years to come. It's insane that someone could be vetoed soley on race. Could he have done the same thing to a black person? Hell no he couldn't! Why would this woman stand for this? And where is the ACLU? Do the same anti-discrimination laws not stand for white people? This is unbelievable but I can't say I'm surprised, especially having known Parker Wiseman for as long as I have.

The State Department of Education stepped in and took over the District under Conley's watch. I cannot fathom why anyone would think he deserves a seat on any Board. It's unfortunate that Ann Carr was deemed ineligible due to residency; she would have been great for the position.

Conley would speed up the downward spiral.

Ann would be an ideal counter to the lunatic fringe.I wish she'd just move to town.

i wasn't aware of his history. thanks for making me aware, i'm from out of state, and honestly, compared to my particular area, starkville has a pretty functional school board. we had teachers marrying students, board members banned from all of the schools for numerous affairs, board members having illegal meetings, and multiple attempts at allowing the gideons to pass out bibles. what about heisler?

racial barrier, to just ignore race all together? That sounds to me like stereotypical affirmative action there... Just appoint the best person. I don't live in MS anymore, but I find it amazing that there are still people running governments anywhere that are not racially open-minded. Who cares the color of the person's skin? He should have just said " No whites or women". What's the difference... Parker Wiseman is a jackass clearly...

Because of him, the highest scoringschool in the county is no longer there. He basically ruined the county school system.

I'm just asking..Don't know Parker or much about him.

All I know is what he is doing is a horrible decision and is indeed Racism.
Why his head is not being put on a stick and beaten shows only how backwards this country and state has gone to try and be politically correct.

She should sue the hell out of the city.

Up till know I thought Parker was doing a good job on the matters I had heard about.

I think Parker vetoed this thinking that the veto would get overturned by the aldermen. (trying to please certain people) But now someone has brought up a conflict of interest because Dumas' wife is a teacher. So Dumas probably won't vote, there won't be 5 votes again, and they'll have to start over.
