We have the rebel fans who made fun of us for tearing down goal posts, which were never torn down. The same rebels that lost to 17ing jacksonville st. and vandy. That is like yancy "lil dick" porter making fun of ron jeremy for havinga big crank. These same rebels are now lining up behind romaro millerand taking pledges to be better fans and stay the whole game and help the team get "crunk" by yelling and screaming like never before. I fully expect to see Romaro being nominated for mayor of oxford by the same rebels who excoriated him during his senior year b/c they wanted eli on the field (there was some nasty stuff being said about him at that time). It is funny how we MSU fans are so ecstatic over our improved game day from top to bottom and all of a sudden the rebels are all dedicating themselves to improving their's. And the whole time they were telling me that we were copying them b/c their's is the envy of the free world. I'm 17ing confused. And what do you folks think of a Maroon Tshirt that says "I didn't tear down no 17ing goalpostbutI did see a hotdog erection on the jumbotron"? I think they would sell.

granted i have only been able to witness their behavior for 24 short years but damn, do they have no bounds as to how crazy they can get? The goal post thing, sure, thats not hard to belive they will talk about for years to come. But do they really think thats the former qb they talked so terrible about and now are ready to rally around, just throwing out "crunk" and such? We are going to get down my home boy, Ya mean! Just crazy</p>

vaunted History and Tradition that recruits (or prospects) loved so much. Looks like Ole Miss fans finally realized dead people don't get 'crunk'.

1 - To honor sacred Indian burial grounds.
2 - Secret Defense Dept satellite tracking project. Wish I could say more - watch next three episodes of "Event" which will offer key clues.
3 - Less strain on uprights when wind blows down the middle of the stadium.
4 - Latest New Tradition, will make more sensein fifty years.
5 - Was in FCC contract that allowed installation ofourHD JumboTron. Had you purchased thesize and quality we didyou would have had to sign the same contract to get approval.
6 - Reduce hazard to migratory song birds, geese, ducks, monarch butterflies, hummers, etc. Gotta respect God's creatures and all.
7 - Read up on Chaos Theory. Pay attention to "Butterfly in Kenya" section. (Seemingly Random States and Maximum Entropy)
8 - Only useful in upright position during games. Between games, serves no useful purpose in upright position.
9 - Getting our money's worth from stadium crew, who otherwise would just be goofing off at that point ingame.
10 - To confuseand upset Ole Miss NAFOOMers. Certainly seems to be achieving functional goalthere.

This ought to be really rich.

/Trivia question for you: Name the first SEC team to install a jumbotron in their stadium. (circa 1997, I believe)

edit for year correction

with a right mind wouldn't say we took the idea of general tailgating area where people can congregate from Ole Miss. But I will add - y'all don't have the market cornered or weren't the first.

Edit to add:

Buy or Sell - Mississippi State was the first school to have an outrageous collegiate baseball atmosphere.

Buy

Buy or Sell - Ole Miss was first with tailgating area where people congregate in a central area

Sell

So we could have copied someone else.

...we created the Junction. The only people concerned about us copying the grove are people defending the grove.

The Junction has a tremendous feel and personality of its own. Probably has a lot to do with the quality of people hanging out in it.

it's a tad more raucous. I like it that way. The 30 somethings and older tend to tailgate outside of the Junction.

I don't really know how long. And yes, people have tailgated in this area that whole time. Really, the thing the administration has done lately was re-design and redirect traffic so there is more grassy area where people were already tailgating.

It made sense, added more organization, and was one of the best things we've done in the last couple dozen years. But it wasn't like somebody just recently made up "The Junction" out of the blue to copy "The Grove(tm)". That's stupid.

Of course, by even HAVING a team and a stadium, we're copying Ole Miss (using their impeccable logic).

Dawgstudent, admit it we only put one up because they did.

Other things Ole Miss did first that everyone else copied -
The Walk of Champions
PA Announcer saying First Down (insert school name)
Tailgaiting
Race Riots
Putting a group of bars in the same area
Mascots
Being the best
Right Field Lounge
Helping People and Giving Seconds Chances
Omaha
Getting Crunk
Super Turf
Indoor Practice Facilities
Hanging Championship Banners (tiebreakerfail)

Well I did get being the best on the list.

There were just too many things to list. Eventually I just broke down in tears.

Hanging Championship Banners (even if we aren't the first seed).

Grove/Junction-like tailgating is catching on all over the place.

I went to Auburn last year for MSU-Auburn. What they had was more like lots of mini-Junctions everywhere as opposed to one huge green space. But they generally had it going on.

Hell, NORTHWEST RANKIN HIGH SCHOOL has a tailgating scene. Not as grand what MSU or Ole Miss of course. But dang nobody tailgated for high school back in my day.

being like that some 12 or 13 years ago when I visited there for the first time. So the Grove may not be as awesome as is made out to be. One thing about it thought , you gotta give them an erect hotdog for promoting it as well as they have. I seriously doubt without all the bragging it wouldn't be talked about anymore than any other schools tailgating.

We did the same thing. Bucket of popeyes (screw KFC), 4 rolls of paper towels, and some biscuits. Now that's a tailgate at a State game in Jackson.

If @%$! could move half of the drunkass out of tree farm to the stadium they could fill it. Then the dumbass could passout and it would stay semi-full pasted halftime. They should kept their 17ing mouth shut about baseball because they didn't have a team till a few years ago.
