Wide receiver corp. I think they are going to be more talented than last year, plus bigger.

Offensive and defensive line. Much deeper unit that should have a pass rush on one side and its never bad when you bring all 5 starters back on the offensive line.

Chemistry seems better on the team, last year was a disaster. I think

Collins can coach and the players seem to respond to him. We've been
red shirting a lot of guys for the past three years, something MSU has
never done before that I can remember.

uncertainty on defense...

If we brought back the same scheme, I'd be pawning off my season tickets rather quickly.

Experience. Are we young at WR and DB? Sure. But those units are still full of guys who've been here for the ups and downs of the last few years.

Most of our key players were here when everyone was getting patted on the back in 2010, and they were here for the sour taste that the end of last year gave us all. They don't want that happening again. They care more than any of us do, I assure you.

And from a pure football standpoint, we have all of our big uglies back on both sides of the ball other than Boyd, we have a freak of nature returning at MLB, and we return proven and talented QB's and RB's.

28.

We have 28 guys that have been in our program at least 4 years

next year should be better, but this should be our most experience group ever
We have never redshirted the last 4 years in our history

Consistency under Dan. We beat the teams we're supposed to and play all the other ones close.

Glad to see you're ok. (I am assuming you had an accident, were unconscious for the 2012 season, and are coming out of it just in time for two-a-days.)

By the way, you're not going to believe this, but we made the national championship game in baseball. Don't bother watching the actual national championship series, but you should definitely see if somebody you know DVR'd the other post season games.

And Melvin is in West Georgia

Chris Wilson is 358 miles east.

It's obvious there was behind the scenes tension after the Alabama game. Indications that Wilson started shopping his resume mid-season. And Melvin had basically phoned it in the second half of the season. Go watch the aTM game, our defensive calls were so bad they border on willful negligence.

the # of guys we return on the OL and the front 7 2 deep, plus the young talent in the front 7 that should push for playing time in the 2 deep. you win in the trenches.

Are you serious? Please tell me one game from the 2012 season we won that we weren't favored to win or lost where we weren't expected to lose. There's not a single one, except maybe the bowl game against NorthWestern.

Getting rid of Wilson and Melvin....we should win at least 9 this year since they were the problem.

This is so overrated. The NFL is a shotgun league now. How dod they get there? College was the inovator per usual. With the freaks pass rushing and playing man on the outside you almost have to. The "under center" argument was a good one before the game game changed but now not so much.

D-Line and D-Coord. Those are the only two things that can get us bowl eligible this season in my opinion. Our offense won't be able to compete with the good SEC teams until we have a dual threat.

Where to start? The thing called OFFENSIVE LINE is the main thing. Veteran, beyotch. Then you have:

Senior record setting QB back
Denico Autry's emergence similar to McPhee
Chris Wilson and his terrible schemes are gone
Toughest SEC games at home (this is good when you are talented enough to make a run)

That's just 5 things. I could go on for a while.

Playing close and losing are not the same thing. TAMU could have put up 100 on us if they had wanted to.

because

Geoff Collins will have us playing like an MSU defense again and Tyler Russell will be behind a returning offensive line.

I have no optimism.

I've been a bulldog since 1966.

Any success we might have had can instantaneously and catastrophically turn to failure, for no discernible reason.

You must not remember almost losing to TROY and the 600 yards of Offense they put up on us. But I guess the DC has nothing to do with the defense. Gotcha.

Exactly. That defense, rather lack thereof, kept us from winning 10. Yep, it almost caused us to lose to Troy. It costed us the Egg.

Well, maybe I'm wrong. Dan was just asked at Media days "How has Tyler's progression to under the center to a more pro-style been this Spring. He said publically, he didn't think he would like it".

I just have a tough time believing that we're going to see Tyler Russell under center a good bit. He's always been a shotgun QB, tough to see him taking the majority of snaps under center this year. Guess we'll find out together.
