Seeing that this year is eerily familiar to Mullen's first year when we rocked UM in Starkville, how did that affect recruiting that year??? didn't UM still finish like 18 in recruiting that year....did they lose any recruits to us because of that game???

No. And we won't lose any to them this year. It's all fodder generated by the networks to get attention. One thing I do like about the Ole Miss Scout networks, is that they see the bigger picture. They know they can make more money by genuinely trying to help Ole Miss and be part of their media team. Gene and Rosebowl are more worried about furthering themselves than they are furthering MSU. They hurt themselves in the process. Yancy may not be a good grammar teacher but he sees the big picture. They play off things like this.

Back to our recruiting, we aren't losing any assistants (unless they get fired) and we also have Tim Brewster who's akin to Eddie O on the recruiting trail. We'll be fine. And Kailo Moore isn't going anywhere.

Time will tell for us. But I don't remember picking up any OM recruits after they lost to us. Could be wrong though.

If Ole Miss did anything it was show that that MSU needs elite running backs. We have a to be senior and a bunch of underclassmen who got 2 ypc. If I'm Brewster I'm on the phone telling both Shumpert and Moore that the game showed we need them now more than ever.

Wait, Perkins is somehow not good enough?

That is just crazy talk.

Your problem was your OL, not Perkins. MSU couldn't consistently run the ball all season, that is due to the OL and not Perkins, who played his *** off this year.

If the outcome of 1 game changes a kid's mind, do we REALLY want them?

Doesn't sound like they're solid in their commitment toward any school

The OL will be most Jrs. and Srs. next season, I expect an increase in productivity, as there always is. We are set up in the OL for the next few years. Mullen has also stocked up on OL in recent classes, including the 2013 one.

But yes, esplanade is stupid. But that doesn't mean we couldn't have used another Anthony Dixon. Perkins is good for sure, glad he'll be back.

I agree with this. The problem with us running the ball is the 5 guys up front. it's embarrassing when after the play is over with your lineman are still standing on the line of scrimmage looking down at the running back being tackled instead of 3-5 yards downfield pancaking someone. we were very soft all year running the ball except when we were playing the cupcakes and the teams that fired their coaches this year in the sec.

I don't know how many times I'm going to have to say this but Shumpert

is NOT a tail back.........DB or LB.............

I think the only

two it might possibly affect are Moore and Shumpert. Moore has been committed to both schools over the past couple of years and his grandfather played at Ole Miss, so the game might influence him to some degree. I think neither Ole Miss nor MSU fans should really be surprised wherever he ends up. Shumpert has been a State lean, (in my opinion) at least partly due to his perception that he'd be able to win more games at MSU. The game might have given Ole Miss a bit more of a chance on that front, but I'd bet he still signs with State.

Outside of those two, it's hard to see who else would be impacted, I think they are the only ones still in play for both schools.

I thought Conner was an OM lock but I saw where he had lunch with C Lawrence and another player and claimed he loved his bulldogs ... anyone else see this ?( somewhere on twitter - can't find it now )

I would not be surprised to see something like this happen this year. All logic says Conner is going to Ole Miss. And they typically come through and sign one of the top 5* type guys in MS no matter how they turn out or how logical or illogical it may be (Chris Strong, Darius Barksdale, Pat Patterson, Vince Sanders, C.J. Johnson, Channing Ward). Personally I think it's because they spend alot of time and money on those precious few star guys.

Even with all that said, this year, I think alot of their energy is going toward out of state targets like Nkemdiche, while MSU is in on the MS guys, just like last year. Freeze has conceded alot of the MS guys too except ones where they have an obvious in with, like Buchanan and Conner. I've also heard South Panola is not high on Ole Miss right now due to the Brassell situation. I mean, Deon Mix is signing with us and Kendrick Market is at MSU right now remember. I could see this being the year we pull a rabbit out of the hat.

What would SP be mad about? Brassell did it to himself. He went to JUCO and is now coming back to Ole Miss. What would they be mad about?

How is Brassell going to get eligible to get back to Ole Miss. Doesn't he have a fall semester at EMCC to replace now? Not saying the Confederates with ample help from BYU can't pull it off but it could be interesting.

Perk is great, but he's not a 20 carry guy like we make him out to be. And that wasn't even my point, it's recruiting. TELL them that. Back it up with the 2 ypc stat.

As far as Shumpert not being a RB, Moore is quoted as saying all the coaches have told him they want both of them to be "thunder and lightning"... He might be a S but the book isn't closed on him at RB.

Shows how much you DON'T know.

You get that from Gene or Steve? This coming from the same group that said he wouldn't qualify the first time. Or Singleton. Or Gross. Or Ward. Or CJ. Wrong yet again. I'm sure you'll question the tactics again instea of admitting you were wrong once he reports.
