I heard this tonight from someone and don't believe it all.

We played the 3-3-5 because that was our best chance to stop the runs to the outside because the DB's would come up to stop it.
That's total ********! How are 190 lb. guys playing 10 yards off the ball supporting the run defense? Here are the facts: Fact 1:Our DBs suck. Period. Fact 2: Running a 4-3 with blitzes and our DBs jamming or attempting to jam the WRs at the line of scrimmage would have made a world of differnce. Fact 3: From Pop-Warner to the NFL a pass rush = less time for the QB to throw the ball and also = less time for the recievers to get open. Fact 4: Even in his prime, Dieon Sanders couldn't cover the broken down body of CB9 for seven seconds. By not blitzing or even rushing 4 down linemen, we're asking our ****** DBs to do exactly that. Fact 5: Torbush played right into their hands and everybody but him saw it before it happened.

I think Torbush thought Auburn had a pass-oriented offense and wanted to have an extra defensive back on the field to defend the pass. Especially, considering our weakness in the secondary. Period.

Auburn saw that defense and recognized an opportunity to run. And they did.

Pressure on the QB and more up front to stop the run is the only hope we have.

In trying to compensate for one weakness, Torbush inadvertently revealed two others: 1) the lack of speed to the corners and 2) the need for a more effective pass rush.

Hopefully, our coaches are competent and recognized the weaknesses and have adequate plans to correct them. If so, there may be a silver lining to the Auburn game. Otherwise, an already long season just got longer.

I think that was his plan and if it was, I can't fault him for it. But he should have made adjustments. Torch's lack of adjustment is just terrible.

One, not two, more performances like that and he shouldn't be here next year. I'd say fire him mid season, but replacements might be in bigger supply during the off season. Or....maybe we have an assistant that could do it?
