if there was ever a game to prove to him that he needs to be at State, it was Saturday. He has to realize that the most important missing piece to our puzzle. Please, for the love of Christ, commit.

Evidently Newton strongly dislikes Dan Mullen and wants to play in a pro-style offense. Hopefully my info is bad or that we can overcome it, if it actually is true, but my guy would stake just about anything on Newton not coming to Starkville.

that quoted Cameron's father saying that he and his son had very good relationship with Mullen. Either the father is lying or your source got bad information or something.

"Mississippi State is most definitely one of the main schools I am considering," said Newton. "The biggest thing is my relationship with Coach Mullen. You see how he has recruited some great players in his first year but what also sticks out with me is that he recruited some great coaches for his staff.

It's possible, and I hope my guy is wrong. I was quite taken back when he said it. Either way he sounded pretty confident and is in a position to know info like this. We'll see.

I think it was also on Bulldawg Junction that Newton is going to officially visit State during the Egg Bowl and make his decision shortly afterwords.

I won't directly quote the article I read this from as it was from a subscription service. But, to paraphrase, he said he frequently speaks with Mullen in depth about football and life in general and that Mullen is the biggest factor in his interest in MSU. I don't see any reason for him just giving lip service to liking Mullen and MSU if he had no interest in going to MSU at all.

And, to the pro-style offense comment. That very well may be true. But, I would think he's just trying to stay away from the dual-threat stigma of being a good athlete, but mediocre QB.

Bottom line: Why would he have committed to a <span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;">Dan Mullen coached spread offense</span></span></span></span></span> in 2007 if he has or had issues with the spread<span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;">,</span></span></span></span></span> or Dan Mullen<span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;">?</span></span></span></span></span>

I don't want to start some BS rumor or add to the fire, but I literally was about to post the exact same thing as RobbieRandolph. I was talking to someone last night who would certainly know the details surrounding Newton, and he said the same things, almost word for word. No, I don't think it was the same person, either, unless Robbie is a good friend of mine and I didn't know he/she posts on here. Regardless, I hope my source was wrong, and I hate rumors like this, but it's just what I heard. Take it for what it's worth, and if Newton does come here I'll be the first to throw a party in his honor.

Seeing that the guy has been quoted as saying he likes Mullen and has a good relationship with him - I'd say your guy's insight isn't worth ****.

Quotes directly from Newton vs. "some dude said..."? I think I'll go with the horse's mouth on this one . . .

People are treating Newton like it's the coach search all over again. "my source said this...". I hate that crap! From things Newton himself has said we know that: A) He wants to play immediately B) He likes Dan Mullen C) Mississippi State is on his short list... Now we fit every criteria he's looking for, and if he hated Dan Mullen, I seriously doubt we'd even be on his radar.

he would have been taking a knee at the 6" line instead of trying to win the game.

What if "some dude" is Brad Krayer? Would that be something you'd be interested in?

Who know's a guy, who also knows a guy, who is sort of friends with a guy who knows another guy's uncle's brother's son-in-law's best friend, and he says Cam Newton is coming here for sure, and he is well connected.. so it must be true.

Is he the same guy who "sounded confident and in a position to know info" and told me that Monta Ellis was going to play for us and give us two years?

For everybody who says that Newton isn't coming to State, there are other people who claim "sources on the inside" that say that he is. A.) I don't think he goes to OK. He doesn't even fit into their system. They don't even seem interested as they haven't offered him a scholarship. B.) Auburn hasn't offered him a scholarship either. I'm not sure he's even on their radar. Where are ya'll getting that he doesn't like Dan Mullen? His dad said their whole family loved Mullen. The pic of him swinging a cowbell at the Egg Bowl is hard to ignore.
