I would be very surprised if Byrne fires Croom, my sources continue to tell me that noting will be done this year, and next year we will make a change. Very depressing day to be a Dog, Thank God for Basketaball.

If Byrne wants to take the reins as the douche AD that killed MSU football, go right ahead and keep Crooms.

I understand the need to be respective in our posts, but, come on, we need a change in Starkville. Ole Miss has just leaped 5 years or better past our program. How do you recruit against 45 to 0? You can't without a promise for the future, and Croom cannot bring that. It is time for him to go and enjoy being a millionaire, improve his golf stroke, if you will.

Go Stans, why we built a $6 million TV for a bad football team before Stans got his practice facility is beyond me. Don't give me any of that football revenue junk, either. Stans should be rewarded, only winner we have on the payroll.

Another year of Croom = No money from me next year....Why can't every week be Bama week, at least we would show up for a half

Here is the problem, the buyout is 5 million or more, we don't have the money. The buyout will be reduced next year and that is the reason everyone is pointing to next year.

With our assclown coaching staff, it's idiotic not to have had the buyout funds in place as soon as the extension was offered. Maybe we should have a bake sale or something. Or have the athletes go door to door selling worlds finest chocolate or magazine subscriptions.

That is what my sources have been saying for the last month. That we don't have that kind of money for the buyout. Unless he resigns and agree's to go at a lesser amount he and staff will be here next year.

I guarantee you that we will raise 5 million dollars easily by doing this:

A Firing Croom.

B. Hiring someone good.

C. Start selling season tickets after we hire good coach at jack the prices of season tickets up 50 bucks a piece.

D. Raise concessions 1 dollar.

The money may not be there (I don't think that the case) but nonetheless, if it's not, there are very simple ways that we could raise it.

We have $10 million from ESPN, and another $10-15 million from the Bowl Welfare check we'll get from the good teams. We have plenty for a buyout.

Yep, you are correct we get that ESPN money in June 2010, and we use the bowl money to fund out athletic department. So using the money to buy out Croom would be great, I don't think you will see them use the money for that.

Just think of the empty seats in a major revenue year (when we have Alabama and OM at home), and measure it against the buyout.

Its not just the buyout.. we would have to pay another coach as well.. 5 million dollar buyout plus another 2 million for a new coach.. thats 7 million next year.. versus 1.7 next year if we keep croom.. more harm to the program financially would be done by firing croom right now rather than keeping him til next year.. I dont care if we had bill parcels as our coach today, we would have gotten mauled.. our o line could be the worst in the nation..

Just hire a new coach. Say that we'll keep paying his annual salary, but he has to stay the hell away from our football team. Hopefully he'll take a hint and negotiate a very small buyout to save face.

I think 2 million might be a bit much for a new coach unless it was Tuberville because we probably would hire an assistant who makes under $200,000 a year. I think $800,000 or so with incentives would attract a good young coach.

Well everyone is saying that they want us to hire a good coach.. we are not going to get a good accomplished coach for less than 1.5.. for 800,000 we could get someone successful at a small mid major school that will be hit or miss in the SEC.. if we did fire him tho, i really wouldnt mind trying to get bower. he already has ties in-state recruiting so it wouldnt be as big of a blow as if someone else came in from across the country.. If we could get Peterson tho, id think that we would have to

It seems like we've entered the obligatory 18-month-long song-and-dance of wholesale assistant changes, presidential vote of confidence, head coaching change. I'm hoping Byrne can cut to the chase and do it early, but if not, and if he does replace Croom with a Cohen-grade hire next November, I'll still be a Byrne fan.

Screw that. Croom needs to do it now. Today was an absolute embarrassment that capped off an embarrassing season which should not be tolerated. get his fat *** out of here

I prefer sooner to later as much as anyone, but I don't see Croom making it happen, and I just don't see us bouncing Croom this time around unless he goes ape **** in his post-season meeting with Byrne.

the buyout was 3.5 million and could be divided into payments across the remaining contract period?
