I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like we may have to settle...

for our third or fourth choice. I'm gettin' the feeling that although Byrne kicked Croom's *** to the curb, he wasn't totally prepared for a new hire.

No names are surfacing that I'm exactly excited about. Even a Bowden isn't exactly the shot in the arm this program needs. Maybe it's just me.

We fired Crxxm barely 72 hours ago and you're worried sick because we haven't named his replacement yet! Settle down, it'll take a couple of weeks. And as for the names you're seeing in the blogs and message boards, remember this. They're not coming from anybody who has a 17-ing clue what's going on. Because the very few who do have a 17-ing clue aren't talking to anyone.

your gut feeling is probably just gas, go eat an apple, & then take a dump.

I understand what you are saying, but I think Byrne is going after a proven HC first like Petersen or Patterson, then the very succesful OC like the guy at OU, if all else fails Bowden will be there or Dooley. All I know is that whoever will be 100 times better than what we had. Relax and enjoy.

I hope it doesn't come to that.

Byrne will handle this the right way. I would have very loooow expectations if Larry Templeton was still in charge.

I've lived in Mobile for a while and seen several coaching searches (Franchione, Price, Shula, and Saban), and enjoyed the circus each time - this is nothing compared to that. Of course, Bama has 75 National Championships - so the historical expectations are quite different.

However, there is nothing wrong with expectations.

And... what do you expect coaches (like Peterson) to say when asked these questions? They owe it to their current employers to show solidarity for recruiting. I would imagine it takes a few days to make a life changing decision.</p>

Hell I would rather Bryne stay on the big names for a while instead of rolling down the page like it was a grocery list after one or two phone calls. There is no reason for paranoia right now.

Washington is still at it currently...it takes time to make a good hire...everything Byrne has done has shown he is very ready for every situation he faces

on the job for a year and he's already given a coach an extension/raise and then fired his *** for not producing. I think the guy has balls, but is also smart and is going to do what is best for the program. By being in the SEC, our fans love football more than anything and, given the right product, we can obviously provide more financial support than in the past. I'm pumped

Now wasn't it LT that gave the contract extension? One of his last middle finger in the air goodbyes to MSU fans?

Yeah LT had the extension and pay raise worked up before he was shown the door, and he left Byrne to sign off on it.
