I hope there is a way for Riley to make it work

I really like him and his attitude and demeanor is perfect for NU football http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=210453888

Honestly there are two things he needs to change and he could then win a lot of games for as long as he wants to stay

1. He must put loyalty to the team first instead of any assistant coaches - Some of these guys need to be held accountable for the results on the field. I also believe some new coaches not tied to the group that has been together so long will bring new ideas into the mix. But NU is not a holding pen for bad coaches we will pay you but you must perform

2. He must not be stubborn to change - He has plenty of evidence both here and at OSU that his offensive and defensive schemes need to be reworked. Just because they worked 7 years ago does not mean they work today. He must be open to change both big and small

He is great guy who fits the culture at NU like a glove - Of course none of that matters unless he wins

He has not shown the ability to clean house when needed in his career - so I don't see that happening. He will have to make it work with the coaches he has - but continuing to loose games (especially into next season) will ensure his timeframe to sort that out is short (winning buys time). I think he is more open to changes in scheme - we are seeing some of this season with a QB run game - but his staff is going to run what they prefer if they have the players to do it.

Nobody believes you. Enough with your hollow claims. Just go back to straight hating 24/7

What scares me is the pass first Identity they seem to want. Is it possible to be physical and be a pass first team?
Also can they cut out the locker room cancer so to speak in just one off season? I hope they can pull in a solid recruiting class that has several guys ready to contribute early on.

I think riley's best chance is a good passing qb, considering the system he runs.
good hands recievers and linemen are important too. but from the snap the qb has to be able to get the ball there, and there, and there, and there

Interesting concept, but NU absolutely has been a holding pen for bad assistant coaches since Callahan. Maybe Riley can change that. If nothing else, the guy seems open to new ideas; maybe he'll be able to pull the trigger when it's necessary.
