I hope this was the end for Stansbury...

but he had an amazing career. His career was 293-165 for an average of 21-12 (sounds familiar). 6 NCAA tournaments. 1 SEC overall championship. 2 SEC Tournament championships.

Thanks to him for the 14 years as head coach and 21 total years of being on the staff.

It's time to put Ol Yeller down. But when/if it does happen, it will be surreal to watch a Mississippi State basketball game and not see Rick Stansbury on our sideline.

sits out a year or two and goes to possibly a mid-major and makes another run. I don`t think he`s finished as a coach...that resume is pretty stout.

I guess my original reports were correct, and Scott is not the AD some people thought he is.
If the economy was better, a couple of our donors might have ponied up the buyout, but right now the money is not there.
Stans is going to sign Pollard, if he doesn't next year will be even worse than expected.
I hope I am wrong, but I have heard this from more than one source this morning. Please let me be wrong on this..

and some big time boosters wants to keep him - can you really blame Stricklin?

I just wish if it were going to happen, that Stans could just "retire" gracefully. I mean wouldn't that be something? For a coach to leave MSU without being hated and run out of town by a mob wielding pitchforks?

I blv Strick will demand all the attitudes be run off, changes made to the staff and Stans do things 180* differently than before. Perhaps it will help, prolly not

He's coming back. Fat Sid will be gone and they will dump it all on him. They've prob done enough covering their recruiting tracks with him and the fact he has been exposed nationally as a sack of **** make him the easy fall guy, not that he doesn't deserve it. So when we dump on Sid and he fires back he looks like some disgruntled ex-employee. Textbook.

We get Pollard, Moultrie comes back, we underachieve to the point of making the NIT again and the program finds someone else to blame it on besides the head coach.

When Jamont and Rhodes were here I dismissed the attitude problems with the team on them (mostly Jamont). Then it was Ravern and Kodi's turn to take the blame. Now Sidney. Only one thing has remained constant all this time. I don't see how anyone can defend the man any longer. I don't see how I did for so long. I do appreciate where he took us early on, but he hasn't had control of this "team" since 2005.

He'll go out as the most successful coach we've ever had other than McCarthy. Then we add a banner honoring McCarthy to the Hump next to the one honoring Cristil in the next year or two and in about 5 years we add one honoring Stans. If he stays, it's going to get real ugly next season.

Stansbury? A banner??? He hasn't done **** to deserve a 17ing banner. Hell horny dick got us to the final four I guess we should put one up for him too. And give one to Marcus Grant for being a nice guy. **** why don't we give one to the guy doing the possession arrow during games because he is a State guy and does such an outstanding job at the possession arrow at the scorers table.

Banners are reserved for those that have truly made lasting POSITIVE contributions to our program. McCarthy has a gym/building named after him. We should probably just name the dumpster behind the coliseum %*@+%+%@!* Dumpster at the Hump.

And he's taken us to 6 NCAA tournaments. For MSU, that is phenomenal. I might give one to Williams too because of 95-96 and because he's the one that rescued our program from the abyss, but his overall record is not good enough, even after you take out the first 3 years to account for the program he inherited.

Only an idiot could support Stans sticking around at this point, not to mention pump hundreds of thousands of dollars into funding the cause. I refuse to think these folks were intelligent enough to become wealthy on their own.

That said, if said "money guys" are reading this, please keep pumping money into the football program. Thanks.
