I hope we lose to Coastal

On the coaching search process, would losing and accelerating the coaching search process and entering this years pool, given how many teams and top teams are already in the pool, even be good for us?, seems like next year may be better timing for us. This seems like a very strong and busy year, already.

I don't want see us participate this year, so there is another reason I I hope we win, our next 2 games!
Nah, I've said it a thousand times: we would not be competing for head coach candidates with the vast majority of schools with openings.

LSU, UF, Auburn, PSU are looking for your top-shelf candidates. None of the candidates they'll be looking at would even reply to a text message about the opening here.

UCLA is not a desirable job (considered one of the worst in college football). Stanford, Oregon State, OSU, CSU would likely not be shopping in the same sphere as us.

Our only competition would be Arkansas.

I am so glad you're not our state of the art AD. 🙂

This is kind of what the Coastal game feels like:

Coastal will need a miracle to win. Out of 134 FBS teams, their offense ranks 94th in the nation. Their defense is even worse, ranking 125th in the nation. And that is against Sun Belt conference opposition. They are a very poor team.

They did recently score 40+ points in 3 consecutive games. We could only muster 17 offensive points against SC State.

And we scored 30 points against the number 3 team in the nation five days ago at THEIR place.
We did. BUT, and I know this won’t be a popular take, they played like garbage in the first half. Tons of unforced mistakes.

Plus, we played with our hair on fire. Will we have the same level of energy for CCU?

We won't lose to Coastal. That said, I agree with what you said a few days ago: "I won't care if we do".

I see no way that we lose this one but an overhaul of the entire coaching staff has to happen.
No it doesn’t. You act like firing the entire football staff every 4-5 years if they don’t win big does something. All it does is set your program back a decade plus each time.

Why would you hope we lose? I would like to see a lot of guys getting playing time to watch some of next years players.
Because they’re miserable people and I would hate to be employed by them. People forget to realize that Beamer’s resume here in year five is better than ANY other coach EVER in history here besides Spurrier. His record is even WAY better than legendary coach Lou Holtz….. we will improve and become a threat in the SEC. A great OC and his staff will be coming in the offseason.

In the old days, coaches weren’t fired every few years. Coaches coached at their school for 20-30 years and often became the AD later. Even the ones who won a ton had bad losing seasons too.

I get the sentiment of the big picture with a loss but I can’t root for a loss. The only way I would remotely want to lose is that would make beating Clem much more frustrating to them.

Who is coming to be the OC?

I believe we'll struggle at first, maybe even trail, before pulling away and winning comfortably. Something like 34 to 13.

The average tenure of a college coach is around 4 years. Firing after 5 years is actually longer than average. Not quick.

From an old post (with no link):

From 2021 article, The average of all coaches is 4.9 years, and it drops to 4.3 years if you eliminate the 4 longest tenued: Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, TCU’s Gary Patterson, Utah’s Kyle Whittingham and Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy.

You’re an idiot. There’s a reason these takes are limited to the free board…

Oh good. Another "insider" here to tell us how negative posts aren't allowed on the pay board, and how that is so awesome.

I could see an underwhelming result like that. Can't really complain because, hey, we won. But nothing really to be happy about.
