I just don't like our offensive play calling at times....

I know we are winning, but Kentucky's defense is horrendous. If we are as good as we think we are, we should have 4 tds on the board. Our offensive play calling just doesn't seem to have any rhythm. I hope it is a case of just trying to get Dak some experience without showing much before the meat of our schedule. Also, still no downfield threat.

Well we are throwing way too much on 1st and 10 given we are playing a team that has a terrible rush defense. Then on 2nd and 10 we do run but even a 5 or 6 yard gain leaves a significant 3rd down left to gain.

State is doing fine. I think it is just a case of not having a true offensive identity yet. Against a team like UK, I "think" we would be better off establishing the run first and mixing in a viable pass attack. Instead, we take drives where we seemed 100% sold on throwing the ball almost exclusively. Tyler's accuracy isn't what it was, and our wide receivers are not great. Serviceable, but not great.

I don't like your dumbass posts at time. Do you think we should throw a touchdown every single possession???? Name me a team that does that.

Agreed...

It seems we are a little gunshy on trying to just dominate the run with Malone in there. Tobias is absolutely HUGE for the success of our run game. Some don't realize just how dominant of a motor grader he is in the run game, especially beside Day...

....you're really discrediting Russell's accuracy? I really don't see how that can be knocked right now.

Yeah, I agree with all this. It does seem like we throw more often on 1st down than run. I guess Dan has decided with Russel, this what we need to do instead of being a read option team.

Yes

I suppose I am. Granted, on his worst day Tyler throws the ball 3 to 4 times better than Relf ever did. But, Tyler has not been as sharp as he was earlier in the year. He is getting away with a few ill advised throws that have INT written all over them. I still think he is doing fairly well, but I am not awed by his accuracy lately. One hopping throws to open receivers, underthrowing wide open receivers in the end zone, and trying to squeeze in throws that are a bit behind the receiver and right there for a DB to bat away or pick. I think his completion percentage kind of speaks for itself. I am still thrilled with a 20-7 half time lead though considering that last week UK had a 10 point lead on Spurrier's team. The team is playing plenty good enough thus far today.

Tyler's throwing better than he did against USA. He was great against AU and Troy but our receivers couldn't catch a cold at Troy.

It may not be his best game...

but when he's making throws like that TD.... I just can't find much to complain about... The rest, I'll admit, are correctable issues that haven't yielded to be major yet, but at this time... it seems nitpicky to me.
