This is what it stems from. Supposedly a pledge (maybe more) had to be taken to the ER for alcohol poisoning, and one of them had BAC of .32. The university placed them on a year of probation, but the national fraternity pulled the charter.
to go off and the fire department shows up on bid day and there are a couple of pretty drunk guys passed out so they proceed to take them to the hospital and things went downhill from there. I don't think there was ever any serious danger of alcohol poisioning but my information may not be correct. As a former Kappa Sig it is a sad day but I am sure there are others rejoicing.
I would say they just wanted to set an example to all of the chapters in the country to avoid a lawsuit if a death were to happen. If later some kid died this way at say Vermont and they did nothing here at State, it would make them look like they did not take this stuff very serious and would be bad in a lawsuit.
was that a SAE came over and pulled the fire alarm .. paramedics show up ... find the passed our pledge, took them to the hospital, but none of the actives went to the hospital to follow up or claim responsibility, and supposedly that was really the tip ... that no one went to the hospital to check on them, follow up, and provide info. as to who the kids were.

That is old news. What is being reported right now are sanctions from their national headquarters. Word is that they have had their chapter revoked indefinitely (kicked off campus) but are appealing it. If that's the case, we won't know the outcome until after the appeal is complete.
I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been the E's that got the kid drunk and it probably wasn't the E's who didn't go check on him at the hospital. Other than that I guess I can see how this could be the E's fault.

Damn, that's usually reserved for a chapter on probation that does something wrong again, or a chapter that really does something wrong. They had drunks passed out at their house and loose their charter?
That's ******** there. Unless there is more to the story, I bet their appeal results in probation. Charter pulls really are out of the ordinary.

They just got off probation for hazing back in the Fall of 2007. From what I understand, the terms of this probation were if they got in trouble again they were gone.
I guess we are back to the Portera years of attempting to dismantle the entire fraternity system.
I can't say I know enough facts about this charter being pulled. But, the University just appears to have a massive anti-greek sentiment. </p>

That the university just said they couldn't have parties for a year. It was the Kappa Sig national organization that is pulling their charter (potentially), not the University.Porkchop said:
