However, I noticed that Auburn put up that nice offensive performance against a pitiful defense. Fannin was wide open on two touchdown passes without a defensive player near him. They missed tackles and allowed the middle of the field to be wide open, so Cam could run the draw with ease. Auburn did look good, but ASU definitely helped their highlight video.
the thing with auburn is they are gonna run it. You look at Malz. offense, and its all about the run most of the time. If we can shut down the run first and make newton beat us through the air, we'll be alright. I dont think newton can beat us throwing the ball. I also don't think Diaz will allow them to run all over us. Its crazy though, because I think this is our first legit test since Mullen has been here with all the tools. The florida and alabama games were tests last year, but I didnt honestly believe we could win. This is the first game where I feel like we have a legit shot at winning, therefore, all the nerves and analyzing are coming out. I do believe we will win though.
In the end, AU was only up by 12 half way through the 3rd quarter against a ****** sunbelt team.

but so very average in the NJCAA championship game at the end of last season. Malzahn is probably more the issue than Newton. Remember his offense put up 49 against us last year with Chris Todd at QB.
If lighting up Arky State makes Newton a super stud then by the same token Tyler Russell is the best QB in America for lighting up Memphis. It is not hard to look great when an inferior opponent really just sucks. Look at how good Jacksonville State looked as an example.
