You guaranteed that you will receive the SEC Network from the opening weekend of the 2014 season. Odds are that DTV will eventually add the SECN also, but when?
I will have to make a decision by the first week in June, and it looks as if it will be DISH for me. I've had both and frankly, either one is fine. DTV used to have better sports content, but the SEC Network changes everything for me.

Looks like I may have to do the same. I sent an email to Cable 1 asking about the SEC channel, and their reply said they had forwarded it to Corporate for review. So, sounds like they are still thinking about it. Financial suicide if they don't cause lots of people will bail on them.
On the topic of the SECNetwork, I haven't seen it mentioned(here or elsewhere), but Cspire Fiber, Google Fiber, and the NRTC have all agreed to pick it up. NRTC covers a bunch of small rural carriers around the country...
Those "fiber to the house" technologies are the wave of the future -- albeit a tremendous implementation pain. At&t is somewhere in between with Uverse right now...
Personally, I think it's too early to say if you made a "right" decision. But IF you can get ANY of the ipTv options -- that's the way to go honestly. The wave of the future. One of the thing I love most about Uverse is the organization of the sports channels(with alot of room for expansion) -- and the fact that it changes channels practically immediately. Great for watching multiple games. When I had DTv, I would pull my hair out with the 2-3sec delay when I knew important games were all coming down to the wire...

I tried to get Direct last week, shakiest sales reps I've ever dealt with
And I've bought cars and gym memberships. Bunch of lying ******** and if you cancel the day after installation, even with an incomplete installation, you owe $500 to cancel. No thanks. I looked at dish but it was wicked expensive, and I couldn't tel, if they had the wireless boxes, which I want.

So, just by me switching to Dish and getting the SEC Network, does that mean that I will be able to see all the State games?
I have Dish w/ the Hopper package. I've had both Dish and direct and I prefer Dish. It's just a personal preference. If you get the Hopper, you'll get a bunch of wifi options like in demand, Pandora, and stuff like that. Also, all the little Joey boxes can be set up wirelessly, but you have to request that.
I really don't care about hopper, pandora and the like. I just the State football games.

If you got the hopper, you'll love it. Enable prime time anytime.
One of the annoying things about dish has been lack of HD on espnu but that is about to change.
It is also aggravating not to get NBCSN or FS1 on my package but I don't care enough to upgrade plans.

Dickiedawg, I ordered EVERYTHING Dish had to offer as far as channels and equipment go, with exception of of HBO, etc. I just hung up again with Direct to get a 10th opinion on the SEC Net and they are still saying the same thing.
Dish also told me last night that they have a lot of orders for mid July to mid August because of the SEC Net and that if people wait till then to subscribe, football season may be half over before they can get to you.

Im sorry... I thought you were asking for opinions. If all you want to do is watch State games, then you made the correct decision seeing as how Direct does not carry the SECN as of now (but you already knew that).
Directv's contract with all the ESPN network channels expires sometime in Sept. I expect Directv is/will negotiate a package deal for the whole enchilada for all the ESPN channels including the SEC Network and access for subscribers to ESPN3. When they come to an agreement is anybody's guess. No way would they drop the ESPN channels until they come to an agreement like they have done with other channels in the past.
It's already changed. Espnu is in hd on dish. I've had dish for 7 years and wouldn't change it for anything. the dvr (which i have the older box) is very user friendly. The newer ones im sure are only better. Every nfl season I Subscribe to the sports package with redzone for around $10/month. If you like nfl season ticket you might be in trouble especially if youre favorite team is out of market but I'm assuming by switching to dish you are more concerned about msu and sec than nfl. Best of all is the price. Direct tv doesnt compare in terms of pricing. Always renegotiate your price once your contract is up. Dish has always been good to me as far as giving me deals once my bill goes back up.
State isn't in SECN until Sept. 20, so you've got time. There really aren't too many good games on there first several weeks.
Technically you won't get to see every game on the SEC network. The one's MSU aren't on will be streamed on the SEC networks version of watchespn on the computer (that is if they aren't on other tv stations like the ESPN's, fox sports, cbs, etc.)
