Got lucky meeting teams in our big wins early...before those teams came together. Specifically LSU. This is how the Bama fans around me are justifying that they win easily while still admitting they had a close call against LSU. My question is this...who says MSU isn't really putting it together just now? We slept walked through the past three teams and the game was never in question (except maybe Ark which I was STILL not worried during that game). Apparently, the only teams that are able to develop through the season are the big teams we have beaten this year.

I love that logic. Been hearing it all year. First from Bear fans and now from Bama fans and some in the national media. The only teams that improve during the year are teams we played early in the year. I'm sure everyone things LSU would kick our *** now because they're so badass that they almost beat the best team in the history of college football last week. Meanwhile, we have only gotten worse since the Auburn game. I mean, we only covered the spread against Kentucky on the road and beat an Arkansas team that is favored against the same LSU team that almost beat the greatest team in college football history last week. Obviously we would lose to Arkansas if we played them again because I'm sure they've improved so much as well.

If MSU plays as well this Saturday as they did for 55 minutes in Baton Rouge, they will win. We have not seen that type of intensity out of this team since about the first half of the Auburn game. I really hope they turn it back on this weekend.

What was so different about the LSU team last week compared to when we played them? They didn't change up their offensive scheme or use a new quarterback. I don't think they had any key injuries who came back. The only team you can really say we got lucky by meeting them earlier in the season is Texas A&M, but even Bama's 59-0 win was over primarily Kenny Hill, so we are no more or less lucky than Bama on that.

I just think Ole Miss is lucky that they got Bama when they did...

Is that how this works?

This is what I don't get. Obviously they've improved on defense, but so does everyone. Offensively, the argument is that they hadn't found what worked against us. I think they DID find what worked and used it successfully against Ole Miss in the form of a 12 run plays in a row game winning drive. Then, inexplicably, they try to throw 4 times in overtime against Bama? Did Les forget how bad of a passing team they are?

Either way, improved or not, we obliterated that LSU team, and we limited Arkansas to just one touchdown on a short field.

Bama is lucky they caught A&M while Sumlin retooled the offense around Allen. *

So they throttled Texas A&M at home. The same Texas A&M team that we throttled. The same Texas A&M team that Ole Miss (who beat Bama) throttled.

Neither one of us looked good against Arkansas, but we won by more than a blocked XP.

They had to go to OVERTIME to beat LSU... a team that we manhandled in their own house. And had LSU not kicked the ball out of bounds, they would be out of it.

Bring them on. They have no idea what's about to take their field... we gon' treat it like it's OUR house on Saturday.

We WERE fortunate to play LSU when we did. That doesn't mean we wouldn't have beaten them anyway. I don't know that they're significantly better than they were when we played them but they WERE sleeping on us. If we'd beaten A&M first and gone to BR ranked in the top 15... we would have had a tougher game.

That's BS. LSU still sucks. The MSU/LSU game is what it looks like when Team A can only run the ball, and Team B has a nasty front 7.

^^THIS^^ People are vastly underestimating the impact our front 7 has on games. And, will have on Saturday. If we get pressure with 4, all other pieces of our team falls into place.

That rationalization is among the dumbest out there used by sports fans. If you claim that a comparable team beats another team that you lost to only because it was earlier in the season and they weren't as good, all you're really saying is that your team either a) hasn't improved along with everyone else, or b) wasn't very good to begin with.

It didn't matter when we played LSU. We just match up too well with them. I would argue we caught Auburn at basically at their peak. Maybe A&M will be better at the end of the season after getting rid of Hill and their freshman QB getting better, but certainly nobody other than Auburn can claim they played an A&M team that was clicking better than they were when we played them. We almost certainly will be catching UM at the right time. If you believe the home versus away crap, we are probably catching Bama at the wrong time.

Maybe Bama is catching us at the right time because we'll have trouble turning the switch back on after three games off. Maybe they're catching us at a terrible time where we can refocus after having a break.

We would have curbstomped LSU if we played them in the 1st game or the 12th. LSU was lucky the final score was anywhere near as close as it was.
