but who should we hope is starting at the offensive tackle positions? I would feel comfortable with Clausell at right tackle but I'm not sure anyone could ease my mind at left tackle until I see in game results. What is the best case scenario here? I feel okay about theinteriorof the line.

it's just a question of how big. Can't say I watch the game closely enough to judge individual OL, but
towards the end of last year, it didn't seem like Claussell stuck out as
being completely lost and overmatched. If he is going to make a jump, you'd think it'd be this year. I'm not sure it's realistic to make the jump from lost to good though, although I'm sure it happens (maybe happened with sherrod? I know the whole line looked like garbage his sophomore year, but not really sure how he looked).

After that, I think you have to hope Siddoway is good, as I think if we had a redshirt freshman or sophomore ready make a jump we'd have heard about it. But again, I think expecting a juco transfer to be anything but average his first year in the SEC is asking for a lot.

We really, really need Tobias Smith to come back and stay healthy. Smith, Wallace, and Day on the interior would be good enough that we could survive average play from Claussell and Siddoway. Hopefully, we have some backs that can help protect Russell when we get up against elite pass rushers that our tackles just can't handle.

Coaches seemed to think Causewell has improved a lot. Not to mention a full year of practice with the 1st team helps. Siddoway will be able to rotate in if needed. Granted that might leave the RT spot weak.<div>

I think Clausell starts at LT and RT is a battle between D. Robinson and Siddoway. Trapp and Muniz used in an emergency only role. The interior is Day at center with Gabe Jackson and T. Smith at guards. Coaches are happy with Holley but he needs to get stronger, so this summer is important to him. Templeton Hardy will be a backup guard, but don't expect much from him. If he hasn't played by now, he can't be very good. If Tobias Smith gets hurt, you might see J. Malone or Beckwith. They could also use Day or Holley at guard in a pinch.

Johnson85 mentioned Wallace, but I don't know who he is. Evidently Johnson85 thinks he can play and will start. I wouldn't put much faith in a guy that isn't listed on the roster and didn't go through spring training.

The following added through an edit:
I know Hevesy was disappointed that Muniz got hurt. Muniz was looking like a bust through his redshirt year and early last year. Hevesy stated that about halfway through last season, the lightbulb popped on and Muniz started really developing and looking good. Hevesy was extremely excited about him. Then he hurt his knee late in the season which limited him through the bowl practices and the spring practices. Hopefully Muniz can pickup where he left off.

Also, Beckwith may be a walkon, but he's a player. He could really help us as a backup guard. He played last year at guard, even having to swap jersey numbers during a game because he also played tight end or fullback in some goal line situations.

Bottom line is that we need the starting 5 to stay healthy. We need to build some cohesion among the line, and depth is going to be an issue. We are still a year away from being able to shuffle people around with some confidence.

First it was great to see the Clausell family there. I got to chat with them for a few minutes as well as Felker for a few minutes as well.
Nothing too earth shattering revealed, but here is my brief summary:
Very high on the defense and LB's. Says we are in good shape.
Very high on the recievers we have. Felt that we were going to be ok on the OL. Talked about how much effort is required to play ball now at this level. Talked about how hard Clausell has worked and is working to improve. Talked about the young HS kids and that they have no idea what they are in for with respect to the amount of work they will have to put in to become competitive in the SEC.
Last but not least, said that Russell is the best passing QB we have had in the last 30 years. Says he can throw the ball better than he (Felker) ever could.
Talked recruiting the state of MS and now branching out to Al and LA. Now also in TX, feels that adding TAM will open doors in TX. Said 7 coaches just spent 2 days in Dallas and Houston going "door to door" meeting HS coaches and such.

You're right that we shouldn't count on him to help. He's undersized and out of eligibility. Gabe Jackson should be good though...
