its inexcusable on our offensive coaching staff's part that we have 1st and goal at the 1 yard line with 18 seconds to go AND a timeout and only get off 2 stinking plays. That is all.
Three big games now (LSU 09, Ark 10, AU 11), we are in that situation and fail to push it into the endzone. Part of the blame is player execution but that is the 2nd time we tried to run wide with the option on the goal line and failed. The play calling at the end of regulation and in our last possesion of OT for the Ark game was baffling too.
we gave ourselves the full 4 tries and didn't get it done so it was what it was. Last Saturday we should have had at least 1 more play and possibly 2 had we played it differently. I know we were running on them but running out in the middle of the field is different than running at the 1 where Auburn had everyone jamming the line of scrimmage. I was at least OK running on first down since we had the TO and we were at the 1 but running on 2nd down from the 2 with no timeouts was just bad, bad, bad. Try the quick pass or at least a pass-run option roll out on 2nd down and if its not there throw it away and run the ball on the last play.
