We currently have 6 wins, and are bowl eligible, but is there any chance that the SEC has more bowl-eligible teams than bowls? Seems like this was a problem that bit us in '97, and has been an issue with other teams since then.

Do we now have enough bowl tie-ins that this will not be a problem? Who, besides Vanderbilt and I guess the Bears, might be sitting at home this year? Is it assured that we won't be sitting at home, even if we lose out?

BCS (possibly 2 teams)
Capital One
Outback
Cotton
Peach
Gator
Music City
Liberty
Birmingham

That is 9 or 10 bowl spots for SEC teams. We should be fine.

I would suggest we have more bowls this year than teams that make it. Bears, Vols, Vandy damn sure in trouble.

Reassured? Good.

Now don't worry about the bowls. We'll get in one somewhere.

First of all, Vandy is toast.

Second of all, I can't see both UT and Ole Miss being bowl eligible this year. They will play each other in essence for a spot in the Liberty Bowl. The only way both are eligible is for Ole Miss to pull off an upset somewhere along the line- either Auburn or LSU- and then lose to UT and then bealt ULL and State. UT has to beat UM, Memphis, UK, and Vandy. They have a better shot than Ole Miss, but Ole Miss and UK are swing games for them.

Also, the SEC will get two teams in the BCS. Unless Bama, LSU, and Auburn all completely collapse in Nov.

Even if the world comes to an and we get 1986'd and lose out and the above scenarios actually play out, we will get an at-large spot somewhere worst case scenario. A lot of bowls would love to have a SEC team that travels well. Right now, we're playing for a better bowl bid from here on out.
