Anybody else just happy with the competent play today? RU still has a ways to go, but I feel like we’re getting closer and not going backwards. NU has issues as we know but it was nice to be on the dishing out rather than the receiving end of a game like today. We can relish this week at least 😂

No, dammit! I expect perfection on all three phases of the ball and didn’t get it! 😎

No honestly we’ve been on the losing end so often, this win was very welcome. We’ve been favored against NW IIRC and lost. I don’t take wins for granted.

Overall very happy.
Still have concerns about FG kicking (doink) and huge concerns about K/P returns.

The team has improved greatly since last year. Wimsatt played smart, two probably should have been intercepted. I worried about the punts, he takes a long time to kick the ball, faster special teams players can block it. Field goal kicking isn't rock solid. The two muffed catches were flukes, unfortunately one led to not getting the shut out. A shut out would have been nice especially against a B1G team.

Easy fix on the punt returns. Put Dremel back there. All he did was fair catch but he was very good at securing the catch. If Young comes back, I think the job is his and Rochelle was filling in. As far as Rochelle and fielding punts, I think we've seen the last of that experiment.

Not enough info to make a judgement on Patel.

First year punter but pretty much Adam’s clone. I thought he performed well.Patel true frosh had a tough angle from the left hash mark. Ball was drawing in as it hit the upright . Kid will be fine. McAtamney has a great leg . We haven’t seen kickoffs consistently going through the end zone for for like never and we have had several decent kickers. Good teams have great kickers and special teams. Need the good hands guy fielding punts and soon .

I know we were missing some guys on O but lack of explosive plays or playmakers. Maybe Strong as season goes on. Feels like we will need to grind out drives.

Lots of positives today to build on as our young guys grow and the team comes away with a W against a Big opponent. Nice that the O is disciplined and none of those multiple penalties from the last couple of years. Love the time possession differential in this game.

If our "first game rust" was a muffed punt or a FG off an upright, I'll take it. The team's performance on offense far exceeded my expectations (the D was good just like a Schiano defense usually is ... no problems there).

Clearly, Kirk planned drives with Schiano's obsession with TOP in mind. But, also with Wimsatt's relative lack of experience too - i.e. lots of short passes, don't see anything open then throw it away, etc. I imagine you will see the same game plan for the OOC games too. The problem is that Kirk won't be able to plan like this against the better teams on our schedule, where the defenses will be there to stop us and we'll be playing from behind. So, the question is - will Wimsatt be improved and comfortable enough by that point to do that. I think if the coaching staff had their druthers, they'd plan a whole season of this.

It is all going to be about if we force safeties out of the box. As we see better teams we have to be able to beat 1 high and no high looks. If we can force teams into two high or three high looks we should be able to run the ball still. If teams can play press man zero or press man free and we can not beat them, we will have issues.

I'll also add that, given the number of times we threw the ball (and effectiveness of our passing game), our running game by and large couldn't break through to the second level.

After rewatching the game Jennings needs to play much better. Powell is an animal. AL was double teamed all day and allowed other plays for the 1 on 1 matchup.

Also for everyone complaining about the read option, they took GW away. His reads were gives.

Extended mesh for the TD was nice.
Interesting thought… Is GW the QB OSU wishes they had right now? Way too early prediction vs Ohio St would be take the points and the under.

Our Kicking game on a whole looked really good.
All KO's non returnable.
Punter is not Kosak, however our Punting team play looked the same as last year very tough to return a punt and spotting the ball on the ground after the bounce.
Place kicker looks solid. snappy strong leg and sure looks accurate. if his widest was kick was 2 inches off that makes him a winner for me.

We'll get our two best RBs back, hopefully soon. Our best WR was out. GW also missed two vertical wide open plays. Strong was wide open 35 yards down the field. He would have scored a 50 yd TD.

I’m concerned about the run game. Need to help Gavin.
Well you had a senior captain and true frosh playing missing Brown , Young and Salaam. To me that tells us we have some depth. Young RB’s with talent.

PSU place kicker missed two chippees Saturday night and Franklin put the backup in by game end so we're not alone.

Seeing open receivers downfield will be Gavin’s next improvement .2-3 times he had guys open 30-35 yards downfield. No doubt he has the arm and his accuracy has gotten better.

B1G change for a post game …nice to win and see opinions that are in a positive light. Can we get to 6 W’s? 😜

We were missing our top 2 RBs and possibly number 3 (Not sure where Salem will be in the depth chart relative to Benjamin and Kyle but GS said in the post game he was held out of the game too - tweaked something).

His sack follow d up by running the RB down in the flat were huge plays. His sideline to sideline play is getting really good. He also makes great contact on vertical routes and opens up to outside in routes really well. Jennings I was actually pretty disappointed in yesterday.

Just didn’t see good run blocking out there
