I know it's fleeting, but almost feels like 45-0 around here today...

But you described exactly how I feel right now. And even though I think next year will be a great year and recruiting will be completely different it's just hard to look past the immediate or back just a month ago... Just the way we've been conditioned in America I guess. Come on August!

I am still feeling pretty good about 9-4, skull dragging Ole Miss for the second year in a row, stomping the piss out of Michigan, and looking forward to seeing our top 20 team play in the fall. Beats the hell out of sitting around hoping and praying that this latest batch of unproven high school kids are going to dig us out of the SEC basement.

I know this year we are "handicapped." But, TSUN is "All-In!" At least that perception is shared with other pay message boards in the S.E.C. Hopefully, we will be a bit more aggressive, for 2012.

Get away from the board a while then come back and make up the time lost. You'll feel better.

but, yeah, after such a fantastic season, fantastic bowl win, and just the mo coming off of such a season, it leaves me wondering what in the heck happened. What were those kids seeing that we don't?
I'm still excited about this coming season, but it's basic rejection I think. No one likes rejection and having your prior commits go elsewhere or prospects choose some other school is rejection. I'm taking it personally.

At least that's me. Life is still good, but this is like rain on our parade. Or as nafoom would say, "rain on our outdoor concert/fashion show".

this could actually make our staff realize they have to change recruiting tactics. This could end up being a good lesson for a fairly young staff. We have enough youngtalent on the roster, and while it's never good to have a throw-away class...this may be a year that we can live with it. Dak was a huge pick-up, and CJ would've been great. Other than that, this class didn't have a whole lot of needs. We just can't afford for next year to be like this year. If the staff picks up their game next year and lands a top 25 class, we'll be fine. But we are going to have to learn to fight fire with fire.

We will have a good season this next year. Dan and his guys will recruit aggressively again, this next year with hopefully better results if when we have a second good year.

So many people here think that one year establishes a trend.

So, what are our goals?

- Strength and conditioning training through the off season - we know we can do that now when in the past we failed.
- Have players to actually fight (who will actually fight) for positions - that will happen this year and hopefully in years to come.
- Have Dan keep saying that he is here to build on the future. He says it and I (want to) believe him.
- Show potential recruits that MSU is special - none of them know that at the moment - We have guys who always wanted to paly for State andf a few we convince. Next year will be easier to convince recruits and more will begin to think that they really want to come here.
- Make it more difficult for a slick talking coach to sit down and convince some momma that he loves her kid more than MSU does. Someone needs to offer a seminar to our recruiting staff to accomplish that.
- Beat one or more of the following schools that matter - LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, SC
- Beat TSUN again - I just threw that given in for effect.
- Being4/0 after the first 4 next year would do wonders for the program. Let's don't begin saying that can't happen, because we play LSU in Starkville.

Matter of fact the feeling is all but gone now. 3 in a row next year will be sweet.

Repeat after me, "Recruiting is NOT a sport". It is a process by which college teams acquire new players. The only way to evaluate a recruiting class is two or three years down the road.

Did anyone read Chris Low's article about the All-SEC team? Only 8 of 22 players on the first team were even ranked in the top 150 recruits nationally. I trust Mullen enough to fill our needs and keep us from falling off the map and I'll be damned if I am going to mope around after our best season in more than a decade.

has played a down of D1 football yet. Nobody signing for the first time today is actually in school yet. Slitting your wrist over recruiting on signing day is like slitting your wrist over the Mayan 2012 thing. It might turn out to be bad, but we sure as heck have no way of knowing right now. It might turn out to be pretty good. Time will tell.

The class is disappointing and certainly looks shitastic, but we got a legit qb andstocked up on some OL. Losing out on singleton and brassell don't bother me as much because while they would have been nice, we're ok at those positions for a couple of more years. Striking out at LB is the only thing that really bothers me, as we really needed the help there. This class obviously set us back, but outside of lb, I don't think we'll really see it outside of lb until 2013, which does put a ton of pressure on next year's recruiting class. If all indications next year are still that there is not going to be enforcement of NCAA rules, there going to have to consider whether they want to play the game.

The only thing that reallyconcerns me is that if Mullen really doesn't want to play the game, any offers that come his way at the end of next year might look more appealing, as he knows he will not be able to restock the cupboard (if you can say that with the talent we had) without some of that going on andif he were to get out of the SEC, or at least Mississippi, making that decision might not put him as such a disadvantage.

...win the recruiting battle with Ole Miss (which is a battle OM wins every year now), you are saying that feels exactly like getting beat 45-0 by Ole Miss in reality-based football game?

I'm going to keep asking this until I get an answer: How do you people function in real life?

The good news is we own Ole Miss in basketball and football lately. I don't care if we sign our offensive linemen from St. Aloysius as long as we keep crushing them and Houston Nutt continues to be the tool that he is, then everything will be ok.

I'm fine with the class that we signed. The staff knows what we need. Stans beats the webels again and baseball team shows up and does something, I've got that feeling again. Hell, DS put the countdown clock up and we will all feel wooly!!!
