17ing No. 2 national seed and they are not one of 16 hosts.

http://clarionledger.com/...090428/SPORTS03/90428043

Ole Miss leads the nation in tennis attendance, went 27-2 and has to travel to a conference rival. Ole Miss has hosted for eight consecutive years, drawing record numbers each year.

There are six other SEC teams hosting, yet the SEC Champion is snubbed.

To make matters worse, if they get out of the first two rounds, they will likely face Texas A&M (15 seed) in College Station.

This may be the biggest screwjob the NCAA has ever given the state.

almost bad enough for OM to boycott. Its a shame that it would mean giving up the NC, but it would at least grab some headlines.

As I recall, potential attendance trumped all during our MSU/ClemPson regional three years ago. The same rule should apply for tennis.

If y'all will remember, that's the same excuse they used to send us to Dallas as a #3 seed in basketball to play #6 Texas. Welcome to the club Rebels.

I wont belabor the point, but correct me if I am wrong. Clemson was a game ahead and was sure they had "earned it". Wasn't much made about Clemson feeling screwed and not understanding something as inane as attendance determining location....until they were welcomed to DNF by 45k over three days?

We may be saying the same thing. The site was not predetermined...both teams had a claim but attendance clenched it. As it should be in tennis.

While I don't agree with it, if it had to happen to anybody I am glad it happened to them. Does that make me a hypocritical *** hole? You damn right it does.

Super Regionals are determined by the bids that are placed when the national seed is beaten. If Clemson wanted that SR, they should have bid higher. Its that simple.

And no, it wasn't 45K over three days. It was 26K in two days.

I read somewhere where OM has set attendance records in tennis lately. Is that not correct?

it is just as likely to happen to us the next time the NCAA wants to screw a team from MS....Just wait until next year when we put in a bid to host the National Disc Golf College Championship at the Refuge and you will see.

and if that happens I will be furious. Me and a bunch of hippies will stage a peaceful "sit in" in front of Miles Brand's office.

In 97 there was some long, curly haired dude with one basket that he kept chained to a bike rack in the Evan's courtyard. He would drag it all over campus and set it up in weird places and throw frisbees at it. No one knew what the hell he was doing...Now I play every day.

they do it like the NIT where schools host the first few rounds, then they meet somewhere starting with the quarterfinals or semifinals. </p>

I challenge any of you, name 3 players on our tennis team without looking.

And can anyone make a case that we or OM have missed out on any regionals we deserved in baseball?

12 years ago, we were in the 17ing FINAL FOUR. We won one SEC match this year. In that time, Ole Miss has built itself into a national power. Why? Florida stole our coach and LT promoted an assistant instead of hiring one of the dozens of now national powerhouse coaches that wanted to come to Starkville.

on the back side of campus. It is a lot of fun if you can pick up the "Tomahawk" toss. Perhaps you could employ the back hand or for hand tosses. I'll buy you a jug of Carlos Rossi if you go out and play 18 one day.

Ryan Farlow, Daniel Sanchez, Antonio Lastre.

I can go on and name the entire team but will stop there. But I have an advantage due to knowing several players and having been to numerous matches over the past few years.

However, your point is taken. I doubt more than two or three posters here can name one player.

The matches are enjoyable and the new coach is intense. Sort of like Cohen at times.

Unlike pro tennis it's not quiet. Actually at a couple of away matches our guys have been heckled much like opposing outfielders do at Dudy Noble.

Surprised a gentleman like you didn't jump on that. Young Carlos and I have had many arguments and they usually end the same way, with me vowing never to argue with Mr. Rossi again and him making a surprise appearance again at the most inopportune of times.

I highly recommend Europeans. They make your team good.
