I know Manning is good and all, but how does he win an MVP this year?

Injuries on both sides of the ball caused a slow start, which he held together long enough for everyone to get well and when that happened, he didn't lose another game. Remember, they were dead in the water until about week 6.

Plus, there's been some good performances, but none were so overwhelming that they overshadowed what Peyton did.

ok, seriously

Peterson, Pennington, D Williams at Carolina, Brees, Rivers, brother Eli to name a few. Guess it was a toss up when Brady went down. Not saying Manning isn't deserving, just that he wasn't head and shoulders above any of these other guys.

Rivers had 34 TDs and 11 Ints. Manning had 27 TDs and 12 Ints.

Michael Turner had almost 1700 yards rushing and 16 TDs.

I dont think you can say Rivers as they were 4-8 at one time this season..leading your team to 8-8 is not MVP-worthy to me

Turner is a better choice, but he isnt an every down back...he comes out in passing situations all the time. He had a great season, but I think an MVP should be an every down back. But the way the NFL is headed, there wont be any teams with every down backs before too much longer.

If it's a numbers award, then maybe Manning doesn't get it. But this isn't the Heisman Trophy, the NFL MVP generally goes to a player that actually deserves it. And this year, that's Peyton.

Brees has the same number of TDs as Rivers and 5 more Ints. The Chargers won their division. The Saints had one more win, but nobody cares about that now.

how the hell is Adrian Peterson 4th in the MVP voting.. nearly 1800 yards, the league rushing title, and a division title on a team with no viable threat at QB (and come to find out he was playing on a bad ankle the last 3 or 4 weeks of the season).. and he finished 4th? That's just crazy. Adrian Peterson is the best player in football. Just goes to show when the media latches onto a guy (especially if it's Manning or Favre), all logic goes out the window.
People were talking about Peyton bringing them back from a 3-4 record like his average/poor play wasn't part of the reason for that 3-4 start. They also got a couple of gift games that had nothing to do with Manning at all (like Sage Rosenfels doing his Mike Vick impression and fumbling the ball away when Houston had them beat).

Petersen is clearly the most deserving. He got robbed. Although if the Saints had made the playoffs, I think Brees runs away with the award.

It is the media sucking off the Mannings. Peyton did a great job but their defense had as much to do with them winning as anything.

some of you need to arrange to get voting rights for NFL MVP and you can correct this travesty.

guys like Peyton get some traction for past years perfornances as well as the current year. is it right? no. its just reality, which some of you are pretty well strangers with.

Okay, I'd be cool with the Steelers' Harrison or the Dolphins' Porter (even though he's a loudmouthed douchebag), but the rest of your answers are jokes.
Peterson fumbled WAY too much. There were other RBs who performed on a nearly equal level without the fumbilitis.

Pennington was good, but not MVP good.

Same goes for DeAngelo Williams. Ya gotta wonder if he would've been as good without Stewart there to give him the occasional breather.

Rivers was a good qb this year on a bad team. If you're gonna mention him, why not Warner or Brees for that matter? Both Brees and Warner had great numbers and their teams finished the regular season with a better record.

Eli? You can't be serious. He started the year great, but he's been fading the last several weeks.

Peyton, on the other hand, has carried his team from week 1. He's had no running game to fall back on, a horrible defense whose biggest star can hardly ever manage to stay on the field two consecutive weeks, and a bad knee. Bottom line is no guy single-handedly contributed as much to his team's success the way that Peyton Manning did.
