new lighting on the East side with the renovation? Looking at pictures of that side at night is embarassing.

I agree 100% from an appearance standpoint. I would also think that changes to something like the lighting would involve some major structural changes that would not really be possible on that part of the stadium. If I am correct the lighting on the east side is actually attached to the ground and done on two very large steel columns, while on the west side it is attached to the structure of the stadium. Given the various loads of the lights alone as well as those added by the elements that is some serious weight loads that need to be considered and not something that the east side was originally built for. I think the only solution in realistic dollars and cents versus benefit would be to leave it as is... but I could be wrong.

What's wrong with the lighting? Typical, non-televised games require 50 foot-candles, regional television requirements are 75 foot-candles, and nationally televised contests require 100 foot-candles. Since we are routinely on national television, it would be safe to assume that the lighting provided on the surface of Scott Field meets or exceeds these minimum requirements. It doesn't need to be a tanning bed. How the required foot-candles are provided is irrelevant. What is important is that the end result on the field surface meets or exceeds required minimums.
