I like Tyson Lee

I liked him during the LSU game. I liked him during the Vandy game. I also like the fact that he makes great decisions on the field and has thrown 0 interceptions.

During the past hour I watched the football highlight show on channel 18 in Starkville (Mississippi State Television). The post game interview was with Tyson Lee. Jim Ellis was interviewing him and the guy was seriously impressive. His knowledge of the game was very very impressive. He sounded like a coach (not any of ours) talking to Jim Ellis. This guy is a "yes sir" "no sir" kind of guy. Lots of respect and Tyson sounded like an intelligent SEC quarterback. I'm not saying that all football players are dumb and can't speak at interviews, but this guy really impressed me.

Even though the guy is not as good as most quarterbacks in the SEC, even though he is seriously vertically challenged, I feel much better about the remainder of the season. I am absolutely not saying he is perfect or will take us to a bowl, but he is better than what we have had the past few years.

I agree that he's an impressive young man, very intelligent and articulate.

As for his quarterbacking skills, I can't say much at this point. He does seem to be pretty smart with the ball, and he can certainly scramble well. Need to see a lot more from him in the passing game if he's going to make as big an impact as we'd like.</p>

I know this has been a problem at Mississippi State since the beginning of time, but things might change if we traded in one of our 3 RB coaches for a QB coach. Just a thought.

Could it be that MSU is not the only school to add a little to a players height. How tall was Doug Flutie?

that if the Kansas QB is listed at 5'11", there's no way in hell he's really that tall either.

i think tyson will be sufficient if we can stick with our ground game and win like we did last year. i agree with croom when he said we lost our identity. last year wasnt pretty but we did win 8 games. if we can get back to that and lee can give us some decent play and give russell a year to mature i think we will be ok. i dont think we will ever have a great passing team, we just need to run the ball and control the clock and keep the other teams offense off the field to give our defense rest. that will give us our best chance to win.

except for last year wes carroll was still rolling out every play and not looking beyond receiver number 1. i honestly think we would have strong chance to go bowling if tyson lee took every snap this year. we win 2 games total with carroll behind center.

Another poster nailed the problem on the head, we have noone that can coach QBs and haven't for quite some time. Until that changes you can expect to see regression rather than progression.

I've never been a big McCorvey-the-OC hater, but I've wanted McCorvey-the-QB-coach fired for 2 years now.

When Crxxm first named his coaching staff I thought, "Uh, oh. Why did he hire all those RB coaches and not hire a QB coach. Oh well, I guess he deserves the benefit of the doubt." I was wrong about giving him the benefit of the doubt.

why we don't try to hire a decent QB coach. MSU has traditionally sucked at QB. In fact, a couple of times in our history we have been a solid QB away from really competing big time (short term basis of course). One would think that we would try to offset that effect by hiring someone that knows what he is doing to coach our QBs. MSU athletics and common sense don't typically go well together though.
