Currently on their board are threads about Bolden sitting out the scrimmage and one about a recruit sleeping through their scrimmage. They can think of all kinds of crazy ways Bolden might have gotten hurt but many are justifying how a recruit could sleep through part of their scrimmage.

This is pretty interesting and thought I'd share it in the "Duke is superior to all things Kentucky" thread.

This is two old cats, Oscar Combs and Jim Host having a podcast and they talk about Tom Butters and the potential of UK becoming a member of the ACC.

I thought you guys might like it. It starts at 58:00 mark.

I don't see the thread you are describing.
This one and I thought you guys might like the link above with Tom Butters mentioned. My bad, I'm guessing most don't know who he is. It was an interesting story about how Butters and some other ACC members actively recruited UK to the ACC.

My buddy at work is asburys assistant coach, basically before the game the kids were saying they knew they lost and it was a waste of time etc. I just can't fathom why calipari would schedule a team like asbury. Their campus is 10 mins from my house and honestly our local wal mart is bigger. They keep telling theirselves cal did it to help the school but those players are demoralized.

Hey here's $20,000 to let us embarrass you on tv!
This contradicts every thing they said post game.

Is it true your football band focused on UK? I'm hoping someone says no.

There's a lot of focus on UK and Duke from both fanbases. I was shocked to see a Duke halftime show devoted to UK. That would never happen at UK.But whatever. Duke is the favorite. There's no doubt this is your season to lose.

Yeah, I should have never pulled that stunt. It was worth it.

I thought you said you don't read/post on this board.

I generally don't, but I'm staying away from my home board for a bit... Not thrilled with everyone who is there, and it's gotten a bit messy recently, soooo...

UCLA is their only rival and right now the only one that can claim superiority.

Dont feel bad. I've been called a traitor to KY before because I'm a Duke fan that was born and raised here. I've had people tell me that I'm brave for being a Duke fan here, but I haven't encountered a fan that has told me I should be shot for wearing a Duke shirt but it does not surprise me one bit. He prolly posts on Rupp Rafters as well. Lol! I feel like they can call me all those names and say what they want to, but it's never going to change me being a Duke fan and never will. What it does do is that it makes me hate U.K. even more than I already do. For the most part it is just friendly banter back and forth with some fans, but sometimes at the right moments it can get heated.
Hahaha... I live in southwestern Ohio and used to catch crap all the time. I've played UK's golf course 3 times with my Duke polo and Duke golf bag, got a few looks but that's about it. I will say I've almost gotten into 2 fights at each of the Champions Classics I've been to and they were both UK fans and it just so happened to be 2012 and 2015, weird. BUT for the most part their fans have been great at both events and once they get passed their initial insult were very pleasant to talk basketball with.

I watched UK yesterday and was impressed. Those guards are more talented than ours, IMO. I do not hesitate in saying so. Their frontcourt is top tier too. What will be fun is to see how Cal coaches this group up over the year. Sometimes superior talent isn't enough to win a game against 5 slightly less talented guys playing as one. I hope we get a chance to see Duke become a fist and break their five fingers in a tourney matchup. UK is my early number 1 until we get healthy. Go Duke!

FIFY Clive.
It's pretty crazy how close UK became the 9th member of the ACC.

Edit: I do hope some took the time to listen to that link. Combs started Cats Pause, and Jim Host, doesn't need an introduction. They spoke very highly of Butters and Duke and the ACC. Thanks for the corrected time.

I always find stuff like this the most interesting. I'm still learning the sport and history.

UK is going to be really good. I can't even begin to discuss how Duke matches up and where they stand because unfortunately we haven't seen Duke's team yet.

And if they did come into the ACC way back then they still wouldn't be our rival. OFC

If that had happened, you'd never be able to convince them of that.

And danged if most of their fans already think Duke is their rival. How often does Duke play uk anyway. They need to play one team every year two times on a home and home basis. That team needs to come from the SEC. UL a possibility. Play them twice a year. OFC

I have a hard time understanding why we discuss UK at all. They mean nothing to us Duke fans and to discuss them is silly.

when Duke is playing and u go to a restaurant here in KY, every single TV is on the Duke game and the haters are watching. They watch Duke as much as they watch U.K. Nice to know haters are always watching our games.

That's why our ratings are so high. Duke is a drug to them. They can't live without us. They are begging for Duke to be their rivals and it ain't happening.

If I was a fan of the most winningest program in college basketball history, I wouldn't care about some program who I consider less than mine. That's just me.

They will never be our rivals but when they aren't playing UNC u can bet a million dollars that I'm pulling for them to lose. I will be pulling for UCLA this weekend but it will be a hard task for them to win at Rupp.

The insecurity in some of that fan base is very high. As a Duke fan I have nothing against Kentucky. Great program with some great fans. However there is a contingent that watch Duke games to count every single call that goes against Duke's opponent. (mostly ignoring the fact that bad calls go both ways and even the mighty Kentucky gets the benefit of calls as well)You can set your clock to it. Again, not all UK fans, but a good amount of loud, repetitive ones.
