Missed the Allen flopping thread - apologies.

Look here is what I'm getting at: Yes, there is lots of venom and just downright unwarranted hatred from UK fans towards Duke that is unfortunate. But, there is also that same venom and hatred from CBB fans as a whole towards Duke. That's just who you guys are - people hate your success and what all that entails.

Again, UK has the most fans and arguably the most passionate - given that, there is lots of hatred spewed towards Duke.

Agreed on most accounts. Although I genuinely think you guys have the highest ratio of Duke hate: Not Duke Hate. It is very nice, however, to chat with a reasonable Kentucky fan and not have others jumping on with nuttiness:) You guys have some PHENOMENAL talent this year, and Cal has done his usual great job with them.

gary and his undying love for Big Luke Maye.

Steat said:
"Can't depend on Pinson as he may not even return this year. I don't understand why Roy keeps changing the line-up alternating Britt and Williams. Time to get rid of the politics. Britt is not a starter..period. Maye seems lost and that lay-up he missed when he was "shaking and baking" with no one within 5 feet of him was the last straw for me. Despite all of this, the Heels would have beaten Indiana on a neutral court. Now, need to kick butt at home the next 3 games and beat Kentucky in Vegas to move back up the rankings."
gary:
"I tend to agree on the lineup changes. Disagree on Maye though. True he didn't totally have his legs under him but he was far from lost. Did some good things. And there's no reason to think we won't have Theo in January. Agree on everything else."

"Number of minutes Luke maye got in this game of all games was mind boggling.. especially coming off an injury. We just rolled through Maui without him and he was practically first off the bench. He is not a unc level basketball player and should be getting spot minutes in games like this."

gary-7:
"Luke did not play badly at all overall and his minutes had nothing to do with the loss."

Uhhh... no. You guys have like seven threads about Duke on your first page at Rafters. On the national board the UK guys jump on Duke like football players jump on blonde cheerleaders. IU is a rival, UNC is a rival... but you guys are absolutely obsessed with Duke. You hate Duke for The Shot, you hate K because he is held in such high regard whereas Cal catches so much flak, you hate Duke because we have the image of doing it the right way while you have the image of being an NBA factory... you guys are INSANE about Duke.
QUOTED FOR TRUTH! Thank you TheDude1, thank you. 100% accurate.

Except there are not like 7 threads on the front page...

Sorry; there were 7 threads on the front page *yesterday*. So 99% truth? :)

And please note; I didn't say Cal was a cheater, or UK was some horrible NBA player factory. Rather I talked about the PERCEPTION of such.

They seriously have a thread up questioning the intent of Coach K's letter to V. They are without a doubt, the single most disgusting fan base I've seen in any sport.

They are man. One of those disgusting vile fans said in one of the threads they hope Harry Giles hurts himself again. Those idiots take it way beyond basketball and it's disgusting.

There are some delusional UK fans as all fan bases have their loonies. I do not believe for 1 second though that UK wishes they were Duke. Both programs have been sucessful in their own right since Cal has been at UK. Congrats on your 2 titles to Cal's 1. UK has several FF's under Cal. Cal has gone to NIT, you have the LeHigh and Mercer. Both programs can get players and both will lose plyers to the other. Good luck on your season and getting healthy

You guys DO wish you were looked at like Duke is. The saltiness from the UK fan base about how Cal is viewed, and how UK is viewed, compared to K and Duke is stunning.

So how is UK viewed, LeHigh? Poor man's NC State? Get real man, Uk is a blueblood

As someone who lives in Kentucky, I view them as a team that fails to win national championships with the top recruiting class every year, a team who's fan base is insanely delusional (threats and constant degrading for wearing Duke clothing), a team who's coach has literally only talked about getting players to the NBA therefor earning the nick name for his program "NBA factory". A team that's fan base (and coach) lives vicariously through Coach K and Duke. And lastly, a coach who ran a top 5 recruiting class to the NIT and lost first round.

If calipari became my teams coach, I would legitimately consider swapping teams.

I guess the view I mean is that Cal is viewed as a shady cheat who cares more about how many guys get drafted than how UK does, and as the guy who ruined college ball with his OAD ideas, and UK as just a NBA farm team full of guys who are just working towards the league and don't care about their school, whereas Duke is viewed as a school where academics and loyalty and the "right things" matter, and K as a humble and honorable leader who cares about education and all of that, not just basketball success, who led the United States when we were down, and who is the best ever. I think UK fans get really (and rightfully) upset by that somewhat popular narrative.

Makes perfect sense. I am impressed a Duke fan acknowledges that when Uk does something Cal is ruining college basketball and when K does same thing he is innovative. i do like your team this season and if they all get healthy will be a great team, right there with our 15 team. Good luck

hard to win Championships with freshmen, it really is. UK rarely have veterans and if they do it is like this season, Briscoe who is a soph, Hawk and Willis are role players. As far as NIT another example of freshmen, and these not only didn't live up to their billing the best got hurt, Nerlens Noel. If he stayed healthy they would have went to NCAA, got beat early but we all do that.

So it is a small point, but I think only the Cal part of what you said is true, in that it was presented that way. I don't think many people have said that K is an innovator of the multiple OAD team or of pro days or anything like that. Sure, a couple post 2015 title articles said he perfected the multiple OAD system, because he won with it right away (which was awful lucky) but I don't think anyone said K was the guy who came up with it. I think that has become a popular BBN talking point born out of sheer frustration and as a knee jerk "We need the flip side of the Cal thing to get angry about," more than born of real stances or statements. That make sense?

It makes very much sense and actually I misspoke. I didn't mean innovative. It was said more less K is keeping up with the times. I have to admit that I wondered how K would do with the OAD system and I was impressed. It is not easy to coach Freshmen to Championships. So, do you think Giles gets healthy, you guys will be scary good if so.

Healthy, yes. Playing like the dominant force he was heading into his senior year? Who knows. He'll be 100% healthy in the sense that he won't be playing through pain or anything like what Grayson has been doing. The questions are just how long will it take him to knock off the rust of not playing in 13 months and how good will he actually be once he does get used to playing again.

I have to believe that the majority of their posters are children. It's just to scary to believe that we can have that many ignorant, backwards adults in one state.
