it took 50 years to raise Bailey Howell's number to the rafters. I wonder how many other universities wait 50 years to honor their greatest player of all time with a ceremony like this. Does this mean Jeff Malone becomes eligible in 2034? I saw an inference here but just what was LT's explanation for not having done this..say..25 years ago?

why LT did not do this for MSU greats, but he got a building named after him real quick.

Retire it and honor one of the greatest student-athletes in our history, or put it back in the pool for players to use. Keffer was in graduate school in is 4th year at State.

But no, it seems to take State for freaking ever to make even a simple decision.

Bailey Howell, the most decorated hoops player in State history, and it takes 50 17-ing years to retire his jersey. PATHETIC!!!

"Former Mississippi State basketball star Bailey Howell, the best player in the school's history, having torn up the SEC in the 1950s before winning two NBA title rings with the Celtics as a six-time All-Star, had his State jersey retired at Saturday's game against Arkansas. This comes more than a decade after Howell was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September 1997. Guess the Coconut Telegraph just started working in Starkville. .."

Nice work LT
