I never thought I'd say this, but that was a good game.

That's why I actually like these dinky bowls.

A lot of times they're entertaining if nothing else.

and a typical Southern game. It seems like for years they've won games in similar fashion.

New Orleans Bowl record.

There were way more people there when MSU played Tulane last year.

EDIT: Last night was my first time to go to a USM game. It made me feel good about MSU.

there were actually more people in the dome just by looking at the crowd.

There was no one there. It was pitiful. My only memory from the game was a North Texas fan heckling Southern. Since the place was so empty, you could hear every word he said. He got in some good jabs, too. Funny stuff.

I know, I know I'm beating a worn out drum but damit......that makes two first year head coaches that didn't
set up a low fan expectations and then ride them until the pain just got too much for everyone to bear.

I am so thankful that Bryne got rid of Croom and games like this keep proving that it was the right move.

I also agree that is was a fun game to watch.

so the situation was very different. This comment has to do with the firing of a consistent winner in Bower and the fact his replacement struggled to match Bower's two worst seasons in the previous 14 years.

...if the defense plays as well next season as they did in the last half of the season, competing for C-USA East is not an unrealistic expectation for the Golden Eagles.

The details I heard around town today say it was a closed, clean break of the tibia (shin bone) in the upper half of the lower leg. No nerve or circulatory problems, unlike Prothro.

USM took a chance 'retiring' a periennial winner in the hopes of stepping up the ladder in Conf USA.

Maybe it will work, who knows, but when USM had 6 L's this year I bet there was some second guessing going on. Especially as they were watching Bower hit the links every day.

My dad's a USM grad so he keeps me up on the situation.

Back to my point, all I know is that if the other state programs can pull out wining seasons, then by gosh we should be doing it too, dam the circumstances.

he hasn't gotten another job offer that was worth a crap (that we know about). it seems like the coaching market is telling us what USM was thinking about the guy. if he were as good as some people here have posted in the past then he would have gotten a gig by now.

of course he may not want to leave hattiesburg and is turning down jobs but i doubt it, especially since his name hasn't been thrown around much with the coaching hires in the last two off-seasons.

i am not certain that usm has upgraded just yet but i don't blame them one bit for trying.

It's not like he ever said he was off limits for other schools to hire him away from USM. Hell, he even interviewed for the Wyoming job but couldn't land it. When the biggest time school that ever even gave you an interview (other than USM) was Wyoming, that pretty much says it all.

I'm just incredibly proud of the way USM ended their season, After they started out 2-6 and then to make a bowl game with a first year starting QB and 1st year head coach. It is VERY impressive
