and be a Husker...

he wants to be the #1 rb..(and miami's #1 is coming back)
he's from omaha
and he can beat out any backs we have.
IF you were a young guy in his shoes would you really want to leave the state of Florida? It would take a heckuva lot more than a few thousand dollars extra to get me to leave Miami if I was him. Have you seen the women down there?

Do we even have any $$ for him? It would close to home is the only reason.

Some play chess while some play checkers. I agree Brown will probably leave Miami or maybe he's trying to leverage more money. I don't really buy what Rhule is saying about not much money left or has at his disposal because it's the donors and major business owners who will flip the bill. If by chance Brown were to leverage a deal at Nebraska you can thank the donors and business owners who put more money into Nebraska's coffers, stand by we will see. jmo

It isn’t always JUST about the money. One of Callahan’s recruits famously asked his campus host, ā€œWhere’s all da sistas?ā€. Of course Brown would know the situation before he got to Lincoln.

yes, if I was young I would leave miami and win a hiesmen at NU, then make alot of money in the pro's too. there's women everywhere.
I could see having a 60' Fleming boat in florida when I retired, as a second home during winter. there's alot of strange people, crime in florida and cost of living is high.

plus all the coaches and donors at NU know deep down NU needs a workhorse rb..

He’s not going to win a Heisman anywhere.

I’m thinking Brown might lead the rotation at NU. He’d be a nice kid to have on the roster. Miami paid more than Nebraska was willing to last year and Miami or another team will do the same this year. It’s clear that many members of the board disagree, but the coaching staff likes the running back room. They won’t overpay for Brown.

he kinda has no choice..if we don't have a real rb. he's in trouble
Every coach relevant to the RBs has been asked about this, and they think they have real RBs on the roster. Their level of confidence in the room is such that they don’t show much interest in the transfer portal for running backs. Your opinion obviously differs. It’s kind of hard to assess the value of Nelson and Mozee, as they didn’t play much. But they looked fine in the opportunities that they did get. So if I had to pick between your assessment and that of the coaches, I’d probably go with the coaches, as they have way more information than you and I do.

Interesting stats
Ave yds per carry - Brown 3.9, Nelson 5.3.
Nelson’s bowl game yardage exceeded any one game performance of Brown.

Oh yeah, good choice, trust the coaches! I mean they thought we didn't need a DT last year, and they must have been right about that, weren't they? Even though some know-nothing posters were pointing out we should have really gone after a DT last year, those guys were probably just morons.

well in my defense I clearly said we did'nt have proper replacements for 0 & 9...and it became clear we did'nt.

and I was a sceptic that teddy p wouldn't get injured

and I spoke on raiola's running

but I guess I'm not signing checks

Leaked minutes from Barthel and Rhule’s meeting in December to talk transfer

Barthel : Hey Coach so we are going after a RB in this portal right? We lost EJ and we don’t have a lot of experience coming back

Coach Rhule: Coach Barthel you like your room right? You like your guys right? Nelson had a really good run in the bowl game that went for 6

Barthel: Yeah Coach but I’d really feel more comfortable going into spring with some more experience.

Coach Rhule: we don’t have money for that coach. I’m working on getting uncle Snow a pay raise, you like uncle snow right EJ. He brings you cookies right?

Barthel: yeah but you told me when I had to pass on Brian Booner we’d go after better in the portal. You already made me pass on Lacy and Brown cause you needed more money for coaches you ended up firing

Rhule: hey you got that kid Rule didn’t you. What a great last name. He had offers from Miami

Barthel : Miami Ohio Coach

Rhule: Oh, well you just had Johnson. That was nice

Barthel: Coach the papers and fans are starting to talk. Just like they did with Donnie and Ed. You’ve got my back right if things get bad next year?

Rhule: don’t worry about it EJ

Barthel: But you have my back right Coach. You won’t throw me under the bus if the unproven guys don’t work out? We are in this together right?

Rhule: sure, probably, maybe, let’s see how it goes

Brown is a backup at Miami and Miami had offered our incoming freshman RB.

I get that. Char Mar has proven production. But he ain’t EJ. And the Nelson kid has given competent play when given the chance and runs with an attitude. Mozee has looked really good for a kid changing position groups. In fact, I’d say Nelson and Brown compare in quality far more than Brown and EJ.

What are they supposed to say? ā€œWe’ve got some guys but they’re not good enough.ā€
